Long jump after patch

(Burrrr) #1

Hey, as title says - long jumping after S3 patch feels off for me.

During my first game post patch I realized I’m simply missing some of my jumps (not using any binds or toggle sprint, just shift+ctrl+space combo) like I’m not fast enough with pressing crouch+jump after releasing sprint button, but yesterday everything was fine. Never had problems with them (playing DB for 2 years+) and I’m wondering if it’s me, or something was ninja-changed?

Felt no different to me.

Yeah didn’t feel any difference. Oh, and why don’t you use the “C” key instead? Ctrl just seems to hard to hit when you’ve been holding Shift the whole time.

It’s not just you, i have the same. i’ve never had problem longjumping before until now

If You guys didn’t use shift+ctrl+space You’ll obviously feel no difference, just wanted to point that out. Long jumps are the same, but this particular method feels different now.

I really doubt my muscle memory forgot how to do it after tens of thousands jumps with only few hours break from the game.

@AlbinMatt Ctrl is just natural for me and it never was too hard, but now it’s unreliable.

@averagerussian Glad I’m not the only one

Check if the update changed any of your old graphic settings, your fps could be slightly lower which might throw off your timing.

@stayfreshshoe are devs aware of anything that could have caused this?

I use default binds for sprint, crounch (left ctrl), and jump and I find end up crouching many times when attempting long jumps since ranked season 3 update. Feels like the amount of time allowed to input crouch + jump after taking your pinky off of sprint has decreased.

I have leftalt bound to crouch + jump and long jumps feel exactly the same for me. Idk why they feel different for you

(ImSploosh) #9

Definitely feels different. I thought it was just me. I haven’t played in a few days and got back on a couple days after the update. A few things feel really off and I’ve found out it’s not just me. There’s also an issue with the katana, or any melee for that matter, not hitting like it should. I’ve stabbed people consistently, dead-on, and it does nothing. However, the slashes feel like they’ve gained distance and work properly now.

For me it hasn’t changed, it’s as buggy as before. And by buggy I’m talking about stuck keys. More than often I crouch+jump and I’m stuck crouching (while my crouch is supposed to be latched, not in toggle mode). I really don’t understand of a 2017 game, years after its release, can suffer from stuck keys/undetected key releases. No other game I’ve played does.

While I am using an old PS2 keyboard, the game (because… drivers) shouldn’t even know about it. And while those old keyboards couldn’t stand too many specific keypresses at the same time, there is simply no known key release problem for them. This is really the first & only game I’ve played that has this problem, and it makes no sense. Whether it’s event-based or by polling, missing key releases makes no sense, there’s shady programming somewhere.
If I had to guess the problem, I’d say in the key release managing code, it checks up to 2 or 3 key releases per frame and then gives up, leaving the rest undetected. Would make no sense to code like this, but the problem is there. From the keyboard to the driver up to the app, a keystroke release simply cannot be missed, that can’t happen.
