LOL So like ET

(jemstar) #1

Ok played my first game in 6 months…Only took 30secs before some guy accused me of hacking and started trashing me. This is funny as anyone who has played with me knows I sux real bad hehehe. I guess I got a lucky shot!!

But I’m not complaining, use to it in ET, but I bring it up as a possible reason why not many newer players stick around.

There does seem to always be a hostile undertone in this game. Which I dont get as so many complaints about empty servers.

Its like in ET, all the pros just roll new players then wonder why ev one leaves server.

Just my 2 cents…and yes I probably just grumpy tonight!

So what was the point of this thread?

(jemstar) #3

LoL I was venting. Had a rough day yesterday, saw a doco on Canry Wharf station that made me want to play then get trashed within 30 secs of playing…Just ruffled my feathers.

All good now after some sleep…But the point is mainly that a few idiots with egos spoil the game !!

By egos I mean players that think they are too good to be shot up by a noob so must be a hacker!!

As I say just venting…

I think you’ll get these types of players in most games. I remember the days I used to accuse everyone who was better than me of cheating. Some people play to be the best but not all of those people like to admit they are not the best!

(Me for instance, I know I am not the best, I’d like to think I was up there though :frowning: )

This is more of a problem here then most games due to the heritage.

lot’s of decent W:ET, RTCW and ET:QW guys happen to pop up once the servers get a little more active and cause a lot of the newer guys jump ship. Hopefully, if SD keep to this NDA structure and are careful to make sure they open to a LOT of players at once, this should not be as much of a problem. Right now, most of us play with each other fairly often but if the game does “ok” it would not be often we would bump into each other. Just really needs a huge number of players at once otherwise we will scare away a huge group of the new players. Maybe SD should ban us from playing for a month once the game hits open beta >.<

Name and shame please (namely so I can have a laugh).

That is going to happen, and is happening, in any game.

Smurfing is also an issue… If you do not want to be called out as a haxer then stop creating accounts and false names… Works both ways… The player spends half his time looking up who this new player is and see’s a smurf… Then is like oh its just Pixel or Frankie…

It actually changes a players play style… Well I do not see anyone I know so I might try a new class or a few jumps I have never tired before in this match… Then you get killed by BBQ or 343223 | 343232 | 342323 or Taylor123 and you are like wtf and then you find out who they are and try because you do not want them to kill you and think you suck…

People QQ about balance all the time then people smurf GG…

@Jemstar‌ I know what you mean, there needs to be a good area for casual gamers to participate also, if the learning curve is too high they will drop off and not play really fast. Not allot of people will hang around if they are getting dragged really quick each time they show themselves. It would be good to have some sort of match making based off of a ranking system aka Cs:go / dota style so that scrubs can scrub and pros can pro and not crush the newbies. By choice of course no need to bubble wrap the game.

Hehe I was expecting to be burned for my rant!!

Thanks for the positive/agreeing feedback! Yep you will get these sorts in all games…Just harder to avoid when only a small number of servers and even less with players. But usually I just laugh and keep playing…was just a bit sensitive last week hehehehe!

I don’t mind being owned…I just try harder. In fact I prefer to be the under dog that occasionally surprises. I have no issue being owned, just if I get a lucky shot in and instantly get called a hacker that gets my goat!!

@Mustang last week I knew the name…but right now I can’t remember other than was in tags. I purposely didn’t name and shame at the time because it may have been an isolated instance for the player…May have been having his/her own bad day!!

@Frag Pimp When there is enough players in the pool a matching system like in War Thunder may be good as an option. It works really well to match abilities but if you want to play with your friends it makes a little harder to do so.

It was probably me I call everyone a haxer… lol

Classic Spooky

the no smurfing thing is sensible. If you play a random name and have god like ability and folks start commenting on something suss going down its not drawing a long bow to figure out whats happened.

Also from games on with jemstar its my impression that jemsupernova is one of the “friendly ones” you might chance across in game. Always got time for a chat and a laugh and the odd insightful comment on proceedings.

Remember folks: unless its a high stakes comp game (and sometimes not even) it doesnt kill you (pun intended) to keep things social and light (even if its a distract from perfect performance)
