Let’s be honest here; when have you ever thought to yourself, “Man, I would just love to wait another 15 seconds to get in game!” ? Especially in a mode like execution, where those 15 seconds can force you to miss the spawn and have to sit out of the round, the lock in timer is really an annoyance. Is there a technical reason for it being here? Or should it go?
Lock In
SD has said it’s meant to sync the player’s information like models, loadouts, ranks and skill level when you’re deploying. So even if you’re already in-game screen, you still need to stand there for 15 seconds waiting for the server to sync either way. So they will not change the lock-in or the intro for map startups.
Ah,thank you for letting me know! I thought the intro video alone accomplished that. Oh well! A guy can dream!
Surely though that internet connections are relatively fast enough these days to download that pitifully small amount of data from the server while you are toying with loadouts/merc setup and even maybe loading in the map (May not apply to SSD users but those 2-3 seconds could be used to pre-load that information before you get into the pre-game lobby screen that lets you choose your mercs and whatnot)
But I know nothing…just a thought. Don’t Hit Me
Surely it could be removed…or at least reduced to 5 seconds? heck 10 seconds would still be ok if not slightly less annoying…
Yes it may sound silly that waiting for 15 seconds to tick down before you can play in every mid-game server you join, but for those of us who usually have very little time to actually play a game, 15 seconds is a pretty big deal imo. That is the reason I normally only join servers in the lobby screen, unless they are not available, cuts down that extra waiting time, usually gives me time to pick mercs and also completely avoids jumping into a server, waiting 15 seconds then finally spawning only to see the game is almost over, or actually over…
No Offense to SD, but things like this really bug me in every game I play, Pre-loading all other data, even the map should be done at the lobby screen after the map vote has been cast, this is not a complaint at SD and Dirty Bomb, it is too every developer. Rainbow Six Siege Seems to make use of such a system, which is funny because during alpha I bitched and whined about the amount of lobby/loading screens before you could actualy get into a game. I probably had no influence but damn do I feel like i did xD.
