Lobby should show current map

(Lumi) #1

Since there is no UI suggestion section on this forum I decided to post this here.

In pubs, if you quick join a server with a game in progress or even join through the server browser but didn’t pay attention to the map in progress, then you’ll have no way of knowing which map is currently going, except maybe if you get a relevant audio cue (I’m thinking train mobbing in trainyard).

The only thing shown in the Lobby UI is the next map, which incidentally is never the one advertised as people have three choices which to vote from. It would make much more sense to show the current map in progress, so that mid-game joiners can make an informed decision on which mercs to take along.

That would be all.

So to test this, because I don’t use quick join much, I just tried it.

I clicked join. In about 4-5 seconds I got a loading screen for trainyard. Then it dropped me into the deploy screen.

Tried it again a couple of games later.

Clicked quick join. Got a loading screen for chapel, then the deploy screen popped up so I could select my mercs.

So while yes, showing the current map on the lobby would be really great and I agree with you that it is needed, you should still be able to see the loading screen for the time being. It just isn’t a hugely important part of the UI atm.

I guess I have short term memory loss then or the most usual is that I’m out and doing something else while it is loading, drinking, toilet, on the desktop, etc… Just happens that I often don’t see the loading screen and if that happens, then I’m screwed, by the time I found out the map, I can’t select new mercs…

Don’t know why the lobby show the “next map” when there isn’t clearly a next map fixed due to the vote system. Wouldn’t it be more profitable to show the current map instead?

I think it is suppose to but they haven’t coded it right so it displays the current map. It’s just showing what the top map for the next voting is going to be.
