Lobby merc lockin

Unless I’m mistaken, the point of having 3 mercs in on your active roster is to chose those for your skill, the team, and the map. So it’s never made sense to me that the lock in for the map occurs simultaneously as merc lock in, since that disables the ability. For instance, I was going to use Kira, but saw the map was gonna be underground so I swapped to someone else, but the map ended up being Bridge, and we could have used the fire support.

I don’t know if this has come up before or something, but it just bugs me. IF someone could at lest tell me the reasoning behind it, I would be happy.

I haven’t encountered this for a long time. Map lockin is like in the first 5 seconds or something and then it gives you another 45 seconds I think before merc lockin happens.
Please some one correct me if I am wrong.

@TheVulpesFox You’re not wrong. After map is chosen, we have 45 seconds to choose mercs.

Map vote is longer than 5 seconds I’m pretty sure, but I swear sometimes it does feel like 5 seconds… lol.

Merc swap is still at least ~30 seconds or so extra past map lock in.
Should be plenty of time to change up mercs.

Sounds like joining the lobby late :frowning: which is a shame…

@SnakekillerX is correct, the map selection timer is FAR shorter than the actual merc selection. Merc selection you get 30 seconds for, and map is either 5 or 10, I think it might be 5 though.

Now the ideal fix here isn’t the times, it’s the damn slow UI loading >.< I barely ever have time to switch out one merc in the 30 seconds because I click the swap buton… wait 5 seconds… I click the merc I want… wait 5 seconds… click the loadout card I want… wait 5 seconds… It’s crazy!

The UI just needs to load faster locally and instead of trying to give the information to the server while you make the selection, just do it in that loading screen and map introduction instead >.<

Personally, I think the biggest issue is that your mercs lock in before the teams are assigned. Too many times I’ve ended up on attack with no engineers in anyone’s squad.

Odds are that will be an extremely rare occurrence by a long shot. Course, one time on execution 6v6 we went all rhino in Market. Was pretty damned funny. Yes, we hosed the entire enemy team.

You can also avoid that problem by always having a merc in your loadout. I know I do.
