Servers are great for many reasons, but they lack the form of gathering a group of friends, and join together as a group.
1 problem with servers:
A server has XX slots, and if you are X friends who wants to play/join at the same time, you will have big trouble getting in since also others are trying to get into the server.
A normal lobbysystem (from COD BO2 for example) you can make a lobby/invite friends, and then search for servers who fit your needs of haveing
- game mode you wanted
- the max ping you wanted
- has room for all your friends.
I suggest a 4th selection:
4) Select servers you know (or guess from its name) are good servers and have the players and policies you want.
This would be as far as I can see, solving the downside to servers, while still using the benefints of lobbies.
What about match making then?
I suggest match making is only applied to the “match game mode”, where clans are supposed to rank/play in, is like in CS:GO where public play and ranked mode, is 2 different areas, like a build in ladder.
