Just an idea, not sure where to post.
Basically its an extension of alredy exiting Trade Up option.
Ability to build up own merc loadout card.
Player needs 3 cards of same rarity of any mercs(unless passing on weapons). Card #1 is target card, where weapon/augment is being passed on; card #2 is source card, from where weapon/augment is being taken and card #3 is a “payment” card(this card can be of any merc, as long as its of the same level).
Only 1 weapon or augment can be passed per melding session. But process can be repeated multiple times on same target card.
Cards #2 and #3 are destroyed in the process.
Weapons can be passed only between cards of same class(eg no SRs on Proxy).
Cant add more augments than card rarity level can support(eg cant have 3 augments on lead level card).
Only weapons from same category can be replaced(primary for primary, secondary for secondary). Any augment can replace any augment, but no dublicate augments on same card.
Prices: lead - 500, iron - 1000, copper - 2500, silver - 5000 and gold - 8000.
All changes are irreversible.
Loadout melding.
Sounds good and I’m pretty sure they’re already working on reducing the random aspect of loadout cards
From yesterdays article on IGN:
“We’re also working on various other elements such as Credit Boosters, Elite Cases (which contain higher rarity Loadout Cards), and various bundles containing Merc unlocks and Loadout Cards or Cases.”

I would be very surprised to see custom loadout cards (to avoid balance issues), so at best I could see a scheme like this allowing the progression of loadouts (e.g. feed it a specific Iron loadout plus other goodies, get the Bronze version with +1 augment and different skin).
Are you not concerned about fragger with double time, tough and drilled being a problem…
Its just a basic idea, that would obviously require refining.
Besides, bonuses from such combos are problem of augment balancing, not combos itself.
Personally i consider certain augments far better than the others, if not to go as far as calling some a complete junk(with no disrespect to devs).
They could make “linking” option, where certain combos augment… erm… augments that are part of the combo, while putting together all best augments would diminish output of all augments involved.
There is a ton of ways to make certain designs work.

That would take an unbelievable amount of time to balance…
