Loadout Card Backgrounds: Small thing but...

This makes me cringe every-time:

I hate the gradient.

I want to be able to see the cards in the context of the game world. Like this:

Here’s something more in-gamey:

I was actually looking for the ones like they use in the main menu backgrounds but couldn’t find anything. Maybe there can be a tint an appropriate tint on the background (in this case, gold). But I just want something different. #anythingbutthegradient

take this idea even further, soo the merc is like sitting somewhere and the weapons and perks are placed around him, like weapons on table, perks sprayed on wall

or imagine Christmas edition, merc sitting next t christmas tree, and weapons hanging from it :stuck_out_tongue:

The card does what it need to. Showing exact stats and the model without clutter and irritating textures in the background.
Besides that. How much time do you spend on looking at loadouts once you’ve seen all skins and know the stats of guns and what augments do? Not like you need fancy pictures because you stare at cards for a long time.

I like having the no-clutter barebones character model. They could really improve it by allowing us to pan the model upward, because I don’t know what any of them look like from the knee down.

I could go for a gradient between the gradient on the model half and an image on the stat half, though.

Or some DB-related or weapon skin patterns are good too for the backdrop

Oh, or maybe class or character based decals, like crosses or healthpacks for medics, wrench icon for engineers, and so on

When in the barracks, each merc have a unique background in their tiny icon. Maybe DB could use them as a large background ?
Mercs that had a merc-role call had a unique background too. As for me, things are already here, no need to create hard stuff.

If i would follow your point of view, what the purpose of skins at the beginning ?

I’ve never actually opened a card to that page unless it was done automatically after a case opening or if I want to share a card I got to the interwebs. The mouse tooltip from hovering over the icons on the card work well enough for me.

Why do I feel that it’s bad because there is so much stuff behind the stats card? Why even placing pictures behind letters to make it harder to read?

in fact… i feel that later… haha
but i think map’s concept art is not bad to card background.

I feel like it is perfectly fine now as it is.

If you want to alter it then I would go a step ahead and place the character model on an actual map. You won’t get a better showcase of that loadout than that.

It is nice thing to have different fancy backgrounds, but @Jostabeere has point. I also would like to say instead of having all those fancy thing, I would like to have better in game experience first.

I wish we could view the mercs with other weapons besides their primaries. Either simply holding the weapons or firing animations too maybe.

Or different pose. Like merc that has sniper rifle holds it differently than merc with assault rifles.
