Well Beta 2 of my mod is coming soon along with the Offical Site! But making small changes is only part of my plan for ET. I would really like to create a more realistic type gameplay while keeping the ET funfactor as a fast paced game as many people love!

I am in need of coders or anyone that can help out in making some changes to ET to increase the realism factor and give admins more control over the game. To view the list of changes I want made scroll further down.

Feel free to give feedback on things you don’t like in my list and more options/commands that you want to see in ET.

P.S
The List is not final and things might change if the coder/s and I are going to do this. Also these changes are a mixture of ideas and mods that are out for ET already! But I would like to combine all of the best mods into one. I am not trying to take credit for things that are done and call it my own. Those people who’s mods we will use will be given full credit.

Things I would like to have added to ET

  • Soldier Starts with 120 rounds of ammo for rifels
  • Soldier should get 4 grenades
  • Ammount of grenades for a rifle should be shard by # of hand grenades
  • All players should be able to pick up any weapon if it is droped and be able to shoot it!

{try using about 12 to 15 sec of shooting time befor overheating}

  • MG42, 30 cal should have longer shooting time before overheating!!

  • Browning static and carriable for allies instead of mg42.

  • Field Ops also has the Sten to start off with!

  • Recreate Jacuboss player animations from Falcon ET

  • Make the playermodel stay when supposidly gibed but make it play the dead animation.

Get this from Bacons Mod

  • Fix the instagib bug that would crash the client on environment damage.
  • Better shuffle algorithm (thanks to pack).
  • Fixed the bug where wounded players could fly by and capture the flag.
  • Oversize server commands fix (thanks to bani/rain).
  • Akimbo weapons now can lose XP on teamkills.
  • Lower light weapon spread now at level3, not level4.
  • Engineer needs only 33% energy (the correct amount) for landmines at level3.
  • Mobile MG42 can now reload mid-clip.
  • Level0 Field Ops now uses lt charge instead of medic charge.
  • Players cannot have names with ^^ in it (thanks to Leff).
  • Smokescreen can now lose XP on teamkills.
  • Medics can use syringe and medpacks underwater.
  • Field Ops can use ammo packs underwater.
  • Engineers can plant mines and dyno underwater

ADDITIONS

{You can get this from ETpro}

  • Admins/referees can print centred text (command: bcp).

  • Admins can specify the number of landmines per team (cvars: b_redLandmines, b_blueLandmines).
  • Increased the medpack/ammopack throw range (cvars: b_medicThrowDist, b_foThrowDist).

{Make it 2 stabs for front and one from back. Also make all the other class kill with one stab to the back regardless of skill}

  • Level4 Covert Ops can now kill anybody from anywhere with one stab from a knife.

{see if this can be a ON and OFF feature}

  • Medics/Field Ops drop medpacks/ammopacks based on thier skill level when they die.

Misc Server/Client

  • Server: referees cannot be vote-kicked.
  • Client: spectators can now see the names of the clients they are targetting. (in free mode)
  • Client: Limbo flags are now present in the normal chat.
  • Client: added additional selfkill messages for certain weapons.

{See if you can make this a ON and OFF feature}

  • Server: stats are saved upon reconnection. (xp,kills,etc)

{see if you can use ETpro customization options for hud}

  • Client: complete hud customization control. (x/y/size for each item)

Classes & Skills

  • Mine Detection: Coverts gain better mine detection in level 1 (50% faster than original), and level 2 (100% faster than original).
  • Soldier: get’s an additional spawn clip for MG42 at lvl 2 heavy-weapons. (the max ammo stays the same though)

{Make Admins choose how long before they can pick up a medic kit}

  • Medic Balance issue: Medics can only pick self medkits once in 5 seconds.
    Weapons

  • Fg42 is a bit more accurate on scope mode.

{Fix this to make it 40% percent longer}

  • Flamer’s range should be 20% longer.

Bugs & Fixes

{Check this to see if the hit box is close to the ground if not try to make it close, Also i think you can get this from ETpro!!!}

: Fix : corpses hitbox was twice as high from what it should be. (blocking any prone character nearby for no reason)

{See if you can actualy make these stay in the game when they leave!!}
: Bug : mine markers didn’t disappear when client left the team or disconnected.


: Bug : mine spotting hint/progress was pulsed and non-smoothed, it is now tweaked to solid, like it should logically be.
: Bug : mines didn’t show when scanning, they now show and they also flash. (for better sighting)
: Bug : name was vanishing when retargetting the ground on enemy disguised coverts.
: Fix : Less spread with lightweapons is now given in level 3 instead of level 4. (as originally mentioned in the manual)
: Fix : spectators couldn’t use quickchat button.
: Fix : stats no longer reset when changing teams.
: Fix : compass icons weren’t clipped correctly. (on large zooms they drew outside of the compass)
: Fix : pure et weapons (mg/mortar/silencer) didn’t get a nomip set. (users who used picmip>0 had low res versions of these weapons)
: Fix : referee power votes didn’t count in certain situations.
: Competition Fix : gibs take 100 instead of 50 damage.
: Exploit : bug where sound command overflaw would crush the server. (thanks to rain)

Complete List of Changes in 1.0

  • Soldiers equiped with rifles, not smgs

  • Max number of rifle grenades and rockets lowered

  • Weapon specific run speeds adjusted

Gameplay Additions

-When a player re-names theirself, a message is displayed showing which team had a player re-name themself.
-When a player disconnects, a message is displayed showing which team lost a player.

Admin Additions

-Players can spawn with extra clips of ammo if the admin enables extra ammo.
-Players may not be able to kill themself through console if admin enables “pf_noKill”.
-Field Ops may spawn with an added Sten sub-machine gun if the admin enables “pf_foSten”.
-Death/kill messages may be disabled if the admin enables “pf_noObit”.
-The time it takes for an engineer to disarm a dynamite after one arms the dynamite may differ depending on the admin’s setting, default is 5 seconds.
-Landmines may be disabled if the admin enables “pf_noLandmines”.

I think it is easier to view in notpad then posting it to the forums where it gets squished to the left! and Some things might not show up. Plus it’s not that big anyways and only takes 10 sec of your time to get to the dl!

Heh I might be able to do some things on that list, but I’m not a really experienced ET coder (Usually code little PHP scripts)
Lot’s of things can be copied from etpub source code as well.

Man so many mods always coming out and noone can lend a hand to spend 3 hours a week to help code in some stuff? No wounder POP moved! Guess ET people don’t like to have more realistic based game.

PoP didn’t lack coders but animators. And THOSE are hard to find in the ET scene.

To be honest i am happy with what FackonET does and i have had fun with that, but i don’t really see anything making a mod with you want to be played
I don’t see why you’re pointing at PoP it was most probably due the lack of interested of not modding artists …
there are people NOT doing mods but working on animations/modeling and so in ET scene
I guess that ET needs something more original otherwise you will have just few servers and it will die soon probably…
Mainly if you also need to change everything ( some modders tends to do it and most times it makes mod just worse and bigger in size )
Just to compare : realistic skinpack ( that old from 2003/2004 no idea ) was over 100MB, first TCE was around 60MB
Who use that skinpack ?! Nobody !
So you have to consider if you really need that, if you dont want to do only better skins and models which all will be BETTER than original ones… then you may have long living mod…
and to be honest RTCW weapons looks really poor today , only some SD stuff is still nice ( garand, mortar, tanks…) so there is something to do…
just list throught nullskilz’s modlist and try to find any high quality model pack…
My opinion: Find a skilled modeller and do it , or maybe learn to model yourselfs , weapons are simple compared to characters and so…
BTW: i may be wrong, but you may find some empty place as TJW did when he began on etpub he certainly knew that shrub , mod no 2 was dying…

I’d argue that this mod could even harm gameplay, not improve it. Let’s see:

  • Soldier should get 8 grenades (quantity over quality = ultimate spam)
  • Field Ops also has the Sten to start off with! (RTCW wannabe)
  • Smokescreen can now lose XP on teamkills. (huh ? Are we still talking about W:ET ? Smoke grenade nerf ?)
  • Field-ops: Get xp when giving ammo to other field-ops. (Why ? Why should you get xp for supplying a class which doesn’t run out of ammo by definition ?)
    (…) and get xp for giving medkits to other medics. (Encourages wasting energy bar on classes who autoheal themselves anyway; a soldier with 8 hp watches 2 medics feeding each other with medikits…)
  • Panzerfaust fires instantly (makes them 1337, I guess)
  • Most primary weapons create kickback that lessens with higher skill (translation: people who just joined and have 0xp are screwed)

Change list is updated!

I actually fixed those probs! Soldier get 4 grenads now. In real life the Sten was assigned to fieldops and also I think it would be fun to have more choices of weapons on ET. Field Ops and Medics no longer get xp for giving ammo and health to same classes. The Panzar, I am still debating because in real life it does fire instantly but in game play might be overabused! So more then likely it will stay default! And The Kick back for weapons will be set perminantly within reason.

Also i am aware that the guns and models in ET suck balls! But i like the game because it is fun and fast paced. Also getting new guns into ET is hard work and as you mentioned Animators are very hard to find to create new weapons. I like Falcon ET aswell but the sounds and animations on the guns just arn’t good in my opinion. I want to leave ET as it is just spice it up a bit with more cvars for admins and little bit more realistic type game play with kickback on guns and more choices for player.

Also When i started this mod a long time ago my team and I had the new guns and stuff and where all put into the code working fine! We remade all guns for ET and added newones! But Then little by little all of us been having life issues! So the mod ended! About 3 weeks later I tried to get in touch with my team and got some stuff for the mod back but all the guns and code where on my coders desktop and he got some sort of virus that fried his harddrive and everything was lost! Maybe later on I will try to redo the guns and hopfully find an animator and then get then into the game but for now i am just taking it with little changes.

I think you’re falling into the “I’m making it, therefore they should like it” syndrome. FWIW, ask yourself if your mod is good enough for people to move off a base of established mods (ETPub, ETPro, etc) to adopt your mod. Are the little tweaks worth a large download, which will only work on servers running your mod? Is the “realism” worth all of the time tweaking (configs, scripts, settings, etc) etpub/etpro to be just the way the server admin/community likes it?

For your information: we’re still fixing those. Most sounds are quite ok, but added guns like the bar have a problem where the sound is off sync with the animation.

I have experience modeling characters and would love to update the ET player models for a mod, but I just lack the tool (Lightray3d) to do it. The problem with updating all the weapon models is that if you end up changing all of them, it’s not going to look like ET anymore. Small changes like adding details to the existing models and adding details to the textures would proably turn out nicer. Not to mention you wouldn’t have to modify the animations at all, since the weapon is probably the same size and overall shape. This is not saying that you can’t change the weapons completely, you can. I’ve done it numerous times and have got my workflow streamlined. I’m just giving my opinion in that if you change too much and make it not look or feel like ET anymore, the majority of players probably won’t play it.

I also wouldn’t mind helping out on other mods doing modeling, texturing or animation, but I have a prior commitment to the mod I’m currently working on (No Quarter) and I’m not moving on another until its done.

kamikazee, I am not trying to be rude, and I know you guys put alot of work into Falcon ET but in my opinion the sounds are crappy and I don’t like them. Some models are very weird looking like the MP40 were the mag clip is totaly off and some guns are positioned wierd and have jaged edges and dont look smooth and animations are off when holding the gun and when changing the mag! Now you said you where working on getting those fixed! Then that is very good and would make me want to play the mod more and possibley if you remodeled the MP40 then the mod would be great! I would also change the sounds look around for video clips of the guns and make the sound as close to it as possible that is what i did on my mod! The sounds along with 86 other people that gave me feedback on the mod liked them alot better then any other mod because they sounded more real.

i like orginal ET sounds the most…
you just have to own strong bass ( for example subwoofer )

You’re not being rude, you just gave your opinion and were quite specific about it. I’ve seen worse. :wink:
The weapons look jagged, true, as the textures used have suffered from JPEG compression. I retouched them so that they look smoother. I’ve seen the animations go bad, but I was unable to fix them yet.
I’m not sure who did the MP40, I think it’s a modified version of the MP40 supplied with ET, only the texture went bad as well.
The sounds are hard to come by. I might give it a try.
