Little to no "Human" players in every match joined - PS3

(Bick007) #1

Either there are not very people online (as in 1-2), or maybe the PS3 matchmaking is broken.

Everytime i join a game, there is 99% chance that there will only be one other “human” player.

Iv tried all game mode types - including “big teams”, as well as changing my search options to “my rank and higher”. Im level 19, maybe not many people have reached this level yet, and its only look for 19 and above.

Either way, it makes the multiplayer game pointless to play. There is no challenge with bots. You just keep sliding and they dont hit you.

Ill end up joining 10 games to eventually find one with 2 other people, which inevitably leave due to same frustrations.
My connection is fine.

So is this just me? Or is there literally no one playing the game - which i find hard to believe.

IN UK by the way

You have to find and add friends if you want consistant full player matches, until there is lobbies or something it will always be hit and miss to look for groups of randoms playing especially when playing during off peak hours. I have been revamping my whole friends lists and adding alot of Brink guys, I can get in matches with players pretty much 24/7 and usually atleast half full if not all the way.

I don’t think the game sold well on PS3 but you could try freeplay - Competitive mode, its only 5 vs 5 but no bots. Works for 360 version.

I would assume a majority of ps3 heads returned the game in the week btween release and psn going back up, the game never stood a chance to get a fair shot.

I just finished 8 8v8 matches in a row. If you have a couple of friends, you start to fill your team up, and the matchmaker starts adding new people to the other team to balance it out. A lobby would make it easier, but once you get 5v5 or above, it fills up quick

As mentioned, add friends who play it - and when you get in a game, add the humans in that game. You can also check out this thread for people to add (and I think there’s a similar one on these boards):

OP, i am going through the same thing. I player so many games with less that 4 players i am seriously starting to get pissed. And on top of that, on a match it finally got filled mid way. guess what happened when the match was over…surprise surprise…i got disconnected.

I’ve no idea how people can be choosing the ‘no’ option. They’re likely doing this because they’ve found a work-around by adding friends. However, finding a group of random pub players is currently impossible.

I challenge anyone saying it’s not to screen cap themselves (with further proof on screen via the main ps3 hub to show date and time) consistently joining rooms with more than 2-3 players involved.

I’ve tried for at least an hour a day at peak times to find a game with more than 3v3 humans, and I find those if I’m lucky.

My internet connection is substantial.

Adding people to friends to organise matches is /not/ a fix when 80% of them live in differing time-zones to me and the those that don’t rarely log in to Brink.

Is if it works…

True - the game should be more lively online. I’ll blame a slew of unnecessary community fracturing options. But you can get pretty full games sometimes. I have most luck with Competition or Big Teams (more the latter lately).

I don’t think PSN being down would have been an issue - in UK it went up the day after brink was released didn’t it?

I agree though finding games with humans is hard. Standard match is still limited to 8 humans afaik too so this doesn’t help matters

Add me on PSN and I’ll show you how to find people to play with/against:

xbox 360 - same problem

i think its the matchmaking system … instead of filling up servers with humans until there is a 8v8 only with humans, it makes 8 servers with 1human and 7 bots vs 1 human and 7 bots … and if someone leaves in the 8v8 human server it doesnt get refilled by a human … its just adding a bot, and another one and so on …

and thats the wrong way … it gives you an illusion that there are no human players who are playing brink out there …

less server with more human 8v8 is in my opinion better than more servers with are full of bots and 2-3 humans between them … in a multiplayer game there shouldnt be bots

Select Freeplay: Set it to Big Team or Competitive mode rather than Standard. Hope that helps.

(aignetti) #14

big teams and standard is the same … they shoul make big teams without bots like competition for 8v8

(Herandar) #15

Your experience is not universal. Please stop assuming that it is.

(TheBIG_Lebowski) #16

I havent played one full match yet online. That is why i dont play it much anymore. Bots are lame and its just not fun anymore.

(wolfnemesis75) #17

Big team and standard are NOT the same. Big team is 8 vs 8 humans. Standard is 8 human max.

(aignetti) #18

standard 8 human max? why should there be a max. human restriction?

(wolfnemesis75) #19

There are several modes in Brink to chose from. The game focus is on blurring the lines between single player and online. What that means is that there are modes where you can play with bots and with your friends and have simulated full match experience. Like Gears of War 2 does.

OR

You can select a mode where there is not a max on human players: BIG TEAM.
If you want to do a mode that is more competitive on a tournament type level you select: COMPETITIVE. 5v5 no bots allowed.

If you want to play a mode without any restrictions at all you play: OLD SKOOL!

If you want a simulated campaign experience but with random players not just those on your friends list (public) you can play Standard or Advanced. Which means there will be 8 bots in the match minimum. This does not mean that all modes have a max on human players just Standard mode and Advanced is the same as Standard except VOIP is turned ON and there is friendly fire turned ON.

Any other questions?

If you put half the effort into looking for a few new friends as you have to comming on here complaining on a daily basis you would have been having full matches every day the past week or two.

@Pete_X_Nasty - Dude sorry but i dont see why you complain so much on here, i added you as a friend last week and have rarely seen you on the game ever, you are online all day every day but always playing InFamous or some other game. I have added mad friends (some in this thread) and in full matches everyday and send you invites every day but you never join up or even get onto Brink at all but for some odd reason i notice you on here daily saying Ps3 is dead and no one plays anymore? Makes no sense to me…
