Little things that people need to make habits of...

The problem is that nobody want to be the first one in. Everyone wants the protection of teammates in front of them. However another problem in that situation is, if I volunteer to “lead the charge” into the midst of the enemy and die, only to find that no-one has bothered to follow, then I just died for nought really.

This seems to happen a lot on battery (though not so much anymore) and it used to happen a fair bit on goldrush in the beginning (ie, no allies trying to get the gold) bit that doesn’t seem as bad as it once was either.

Something else I saw the other day, was a guy (I’m assuming ex-cs player :P) whining that I “stole his kill” (went as far as broadcasting globally that I was a “fucking n00b kill stealer”). Oh geez, I’m sorry, in future I’ll just stand there when an enemy is shooting at me. Come on, he’s dead, thats what matters. Now go build the truck barriers before the tank has moved, or something else constructive

Oh, and please, on railgun, MOVE THE TUG! It’s simple really:

  1. Walk up to tug.
  2. Get in. (mind the step)

Don’t immediately go to the depot yard at the start of the round, I know you feel special when you capture that flag, but you’re just giving the allies chance to set up thier defence. The key to railgun is to keep constantly moving forward, don’t give the allies time to recover.

of course no one wants to be first, but someone has got to do it.

And if I have a medic with me, I always charge, cuz I’m putting a lot of faith in him that he’ll charge in the moment I die to revive me. And I’d do the same if I was a medic. Ya gotta trust your medics that they’ll be there for you, cuz good medics usually make or break teams.

Hafta be willing to die, so your medics don’t have to. Here’s an example. Rail Gun, Axis, we get the tug to the Trackswitch, so I charge the hill where the MG42 is, a field op charges with me, only to find out that there are no Allies in sight yet. Another field op appeared to be guarding the entrance to the CP area. I’m just thinking to myself “holy freak! why isn’t anyone raising the Trackswitch?” And I was the only medic on an 8 man team. After about 10-15 seconds, I go raise the Trackswitch myself, (and died as a result) and then the Field Ops went to escort the Tug. Of course by then, the Allies just spawned and were rushing the Tug so basically back to square one.

If you’re a medic:

Drops health packs right after you spawn. That way anyone with the boosted life total can get to full on their way out.

(BlackDeath) #24

1.) Put your stupid Heavy Weapon that makes you run a fraction of normal speed AWAY while exiting spawn and other narrow corridors far away from enemy fire.

2.) Place mines in spots POPULATED by enemy movement, I hate it when i try to place a mine near a critical obj. like the fueldump only to discover all 10 are placed near the footbridge.

3.) Dont use global talk to discuss team tactics

4.) Kill mission critical enemies BEFORE useless others. Time after time I see teammates with a panzer blast an enemy soldier with an SMG when he should have nuked the enemy planting the dyno.

5.) Dont linger around spawn exits under fire

6.) Give people ammo, especially those mg-42’s and anyone else holding a pistol with an ammo icon above their head.

7.) Get out of the line of fire for mobile mg-42’s so they can do their jobs.

Those are just a few of my pet peeves.

Dont use team talk to discuss fireteam tactics.

Pull back to a better position when neccesary. On oasis, if one of the guns has been blown, the stop spamming at the old city wall and pull back to defend the remaining gun. On battery, as axis, don’t get too caught up with reclaiming the west bunker. If it’s taking a lot of effort to keep it controlled, then just let the allies have it and pull back inside the base and set up a strong defence there.

I vehemently disagree with anyone that says this. The team that controls the depot yard controls the map. No other map has a secondary spawn that makes as much a difference as this one.

If you are Allies, and you can stop the initial tug push, there’s a pretty good chance that you can drive Axis back to their spawn and pin them there. Once you have the depot, you can sustain that push and keep them pinned for a far longer period. If you have good field ops and/or panzers, Axis is screwed, because there’s only one way out of their initial spawn, which is painfully easy to spam. If you’re Axis at this point, you pray that someone can slip through and get the depot yard, so you can spawn there instead of hoping you get lucky running out of the initial spawn.

A similar case holds if Axis gets the tug to the depot – if you can stop it there and take the spawn, you can dig in and prevent them from ever getting back in the tug.

If you are Axis, the sole point of contention is the track switch, and that is usually where the offensive push stalls out. Allies immediately have the advantage at the track switch, because they effectively start there and can set up defense quicker than any Axis can get there. You have a far greater chance of breaking through if you can flank the defense from both sides. The only time I’ve seen Axis rush the tug successfully is when they are so far outclassing the Allied team that flanking them is unnecessary.

My general observation is, the team that controls the depot yard the longest wins the map. So yes, move the tug, but only after you’ve assured that your team has enough tactical advantage to finish the job.

Whenever I play as medic and see a “wounded” teamate, I sprint towards him, leap, and land on top of him and hit fire reviving him. Its so much fun to do.

^^^^ haha wat a noob

i sometime have 0ne hand on the mouse 1 hand on the cock and basically play some music at the same time, so i rock out with my cock out and i think thats a bad habit whilst playing ET

(SJ_Frankenstein) #30

Exactly, I usually have 90-100% accuracy every game by using this very move.

(Salteh) #31
  1. Don’t stop moving. Do you wanna be shot?

Engineer-Time the placement of your dynamite.
For example. You get into the gun controls in the Seawall Battery undetected with just 3 minutes on the clock. the MOMENT you plant dyno the entire axis team will hightail it in to frag your…well hindside. So it would be best to place TWO dynamites instead of one. This is hard enough to do anyways.

I suggest you DROP the first dyno but dont arm it till the last possible second to give your powerbar time to recharge. I generally drop and wait 8 seconds… but I think you can wait to a max of ten (not sure tested it long ago).

Medic- For Christs Sake -LEARN TO KILL-REVIVE! When I go medic people comment that they wish they were on my team ^^

Field Op- Dont use Airstrikes where an artillery will do. Airstrikes block off a portion of the map, perhaps kill a few…Artillery…well keep on killing after youre gone.

Covert Op- 1)Do you realize you can reload your weapon while you are taking someones uniform? Good efficient use of time
2) Do you realize you can generally take someones uniform for about 5 seconds after they “sink” into the ground? So if you start when they are beginning to sink…if you aim right…you still got it way after its “gone”
3) When using a sachel charge as a “One shot instant mine” do you realize it takes about 0.5-1 second to detonate from the time you hit fire? So dont place it at Blind spots…you’ll miss 7 times out of ten. Place it 2-5 feet in front of the spot.
4) Run backwards a lot when in disguise…probably increases your survival rate 20-30% [not to say this is that much of an improvement though :*( ]
5)Smoke grenades are like nades… you can hold them for 5 seconds after arming. So arm them BEFORE you throw em. 2 benefits from this. 1) Better element of surprise when you get to your target 2) If you get fragged, as consolation, your smoke grenade will still provide some cover to your teammates (though not 100% cause it wont be in its intended spot).
6)Also the engineer waiting tactic applies if you get lucky enough to get to the top of the Building in FuelDump Undetected.
P.S Get the idea that I love playing Covert  ?

Soldier- MG-42 Bind a toggle gun on/off button in your cfg file.

Im probably going to write a Wolf: ET guide someday (yes I realize theres no shortage of them right now). Watch out for it ^^

Looking out to it, you have some good tips!

(senator) #34

But DONT shoot of your teammates helmet! Shoot him in the guts and leave this little extra protection in place.

(DaRkFiRe) #35

And FFS, DON’T COMPLAIN!

But DONT shoot of your teammates helmet! Shoot him in the guts and leave this little extra protection in place.[/quote]

Save bullets, stab em instead! hard enough sometimes to get ammo when a med, conserve em.

(schmeisser) #37

I’ve got a simple one for FieldOps:

IF YOU SEE A MEDIC, GIVE HIM SOME FUCKING AMMO!

I have spent precious minutes as a Medic hunting for enough ammo to defend myself while some moron fieldop calls in badly timed artillery strikes, or just runs right by me. The same guy will, of course, expect me to run through fire to revive him.

Stabbing takes too much time… specially if the bugger is moving around. If you wanna save your MP40/Thompson ammo, use the luger.

Or a nade :blah:

  • Don’t TK just so you can carry the radar parts three feet to the truck. People who do this deserve castration by numerous papercuts.

  • If someone says they are a covert op, in disguise, and they have the radar parts at the axis side of the side entrance (which is not blown up), don’t tell them to blow it up themselves.

(Agrado) #40

LOL. This is a bit like holding a big sign over your head saying “COVERT OPS HERE! PLEASE SHOOT ME!”
