Little things that absolutely need to be changed/added/removed imo

(shaftz0r) #1

There are quite a few little things, that if changed/added/removed, this game would immediately get better.

Footsteps - they’re almost non existent. ive had far too many people just sprint behind me and have absolutely no idea they’re there

Objective and teammate markers - We need opacity sliders for each, with the option to turn them to 0 which would remove them completely

Spawn timers - whether its an individual one, or waves timer, we need it displayed on the screen.

Fireteams - i dont want every teammate highlighted in a pub, and a system similar to et would be ideal. display location/health/class ect. The current bar with friends and enemies health and class doesn’t make any sense and just takes up space

Forward/capturable spawns - This is one of the big reasons that this game so linear to me. There are almost zero side obj that give your team an advantage. Every battle is based around singular objs. There’s no sneaking past, or wall jumps, or any reason to pre-plan a defense. Even adding recharge with a cp was something that had to be done, never mind sneaking by and building a forward spawn.

There are a few more that ive been playing with in my mind, but i decided smoking a big doobie was a good idea before posting, so naturally, now i forget.

Here is one more:

  • move the objective progress bar to the HUD and not on the objective itself

These things are not as “little” as you called them. In fact some are crucial!
Nevertheless every single point of your post has been mentioned several times already.

Footsteps, Objective / teammate markers, spawn timers, forward/capturable spawns +1

Fireteams aren’t too high on my must have list as they currently have all player classes and their health at the top. I think that should just be refined making fireteams unnecessary.

For forward/capturable spawns, they have the one on waterloo, but putting it in the middle of a choke area makes me not want to go there. Maybe something in that elevator area? I also don’t like the king-of-the-hill style capture for forward spawn and the terminals to make the lift marginally faster on whitechapel.

I would like to add removing the enemy merc & health from HUD.

im aware, but not in a put together format, and these are just my personal observations. i could add a lot more of the big things like, weapon/merc balance, weapon balance, map layouts ect, but these little things are fairly easy to implement compared to the bigger flaws, yet are crucial, imo, for a successful game

No offense shaftz0r because you are absolutely right, but we just always keep repeating all these things in the forum lately. And “capturable spawnpoints” are not so easy to change as I would count them to bigger flaws.

(shaftz0r) #6

you’re absolutely right, but ive never made a thread with my own opinions since i joined the alpha, so thank you for peeing in my cereal

Please remove the fact that opponent can see when a c4 is getting diffused. It doesn’t make sense! (at least for comp)

move it to the apartment instead of out in the open.

"Please remove the fact that opponent can see when a c4 is getting diffused. It doesn’t make sense! (at least for comp) "
it doesn’t make sense for public either

(Rex) #9

For me it does makes sense “that opponent can see when a c4 is getting diffused”.

(shaftz0r) #10

and why would you know that? making the game easier and easier doesnt help anyone

(INF3RN0) #11

It was there in ETQW so I have some notions why it exists. I personally wouldn’t care if it wasn’t displayed, but its benefit was to keep teams motivated towards focusing on the objective. If it wasn’t displayed then the attacking team would never be aware of the priority of the situation. Still it’s more personal preference to be frank because ninja diffuses still happen with the current system anyway and if anything it would just end up confusing most people if it didn’t exist. After all we are able to see when an objective is being completed or c4 has been dropped, so it’s sort of fair. On the scale of importance I’d rate it very very low.

(shaftz0r) #12

oh i agree, that’s why i didnt mention it, just the opacity slider. I would personally remove all of it

(INF3RN0) #13

Ah ok. I’d like the same, but I don’t think I’ll be seeing those options until late CBT based on the development priorities.

(Protekt1) #14

Whatever they do to waterloo, I hope they don’t change the first part much especially the forward spawn point. Imo it is a good example of a secondary objective since it is not necessary, beneficial, and not a pushover objective like repairing the gas tunnels. Taking the forward spawn takes some coordination and taking the apartments is a great way to cover the spawn. Every part of that area can be utilized, I like it.

(Rex) #15

facepalm  That spawn on Waterloo is an example how NOT to do it.

(BMXer) #16

I honestly can’t believe the spawn timer isn’t on the HUD already. Its so Brink like.

(Volcano) #18

I’m assuming it was a typo

(Protekt1) #19

Your well entitled to opinion. :stroggbanana:

If you’re going to bother to disagree with someone you ought to at least explain why. Just manners.

Change the teammate’s indicator (blue mark above the player) immediately when they die. Since we don’t have minimap, i have no idea sometimes if my teammate died (by someone) after the next corner or not. It’s not obvious if you are not a medic.
