Other thing, you guys know where I can ask for private servers for the event? I heard most tournament organizers contacted SD for private servers. Without private servers teams can’t play, or do I see this wrong? Thanks!

We can definitely host cups midweek. Any of you have idea’s what would be the fastest way to get servers for the event? I have pm’d MissMurder and send Splash Damage a FB message.

I was able to get in touch with SD for servers. I moved the cup to Tuesday the 23rd 19:00.

You should consider reworking the rules as the copy/pasted dirtycups rules are heavily dev and us-oriented. Why would an eu vs eu match even be considered for a us east server and why would all us vs eu matches be played on us east?

Most fair? Hardly. Even the west teams ping roughly 100 to east and europeans ping around 200. One map on each region’s server would be more fair.

Suggestion: Winner’s and loser’s bracket.

I bet we can borrow the dirtycups and the dirtypugs servers. And to answer your question, I am the original aneki from RTCW and ET, but I am Swedish, not French.

We got servers for the cup, but the max slot of teams is 20! So far we have 17 sign ups.

@Aneki. Implementing a lower and upper bracket will take a lot of extra time +3-4 rounds. Instead, I have made all rounds a best of 3. What I could do is make a 3rd place match as that doesn’t interfere with the tournament schedule.

I see your point, but I’d rather have best of 1 and loser’s bracket. For bad seeding, bo3 or bo1 vs the #1 or #2 team won’t make a difference, rather lose it and possible win vs other teams. Loser’s bracket is implemented when seeding isn’t perfect, making the final games having a bigger chance of actual having the best teams. Now, it’s possible the real finals is played in semis or earlier because of seedings.

And seedings can’t be perfect in this early stage of the game when teams are new and rosters change constantly for many.

Thanks a lot for your input. We’ll try this bracket system next week. My concern always with a lower bracket is that the upper bracket teams have to wait maybe 2+ hours before they can play a match against the team from the lower bracket. I don’t think any team wants to wait this long, that is why the best of 3.

You are right that seedings cannot be perfect. But that is why we will host more tournaments so we can get to know all teams, see what rules fit best and also what is the best way of organizing the brackets.

I will do the seedings together with the brackets. So it’ll be ready 19:00 CET. I’ll use the ESL/Dirtycups as a guideline for seedings.
