Limbo Menu

(sprenx) #1

Hey guys,

this is my first post so imma introduce myself.
My name is Jamie and im 17 years old. Im from holland.

My question is as followed…

If you reskin the Limbo Menu and you want to test it. Is it possible without the server having the pk3 file? Or does the server need the pk3 file?

Hi, I’m from Holland too, but I’m 15.

I’ve also been doing things like that. The limbo menu is I think a difficult thing to modify because it has a lot of buttons and pictures, overlays and some more.

If you want to test it, make sure your .pk3 file begins with - for example - a Z and make sure it’s located in the etmain folder. Go to your server.cfg and set dedicated from (I guess default is 1) 1 to 0. Then start et and type in the console /exec server

This is how I do it, you’re server won’t go online, you can use this for anything, soundpacks, skins, I myself am busy with a loading menu for my clan. I hope I haven’t forgot anything, succes!

You can test it locally.
If you create a local server.
So on your PC is also the server and the client.
Start W:ET - Host Game - set options / choose map - Start Server

Another possibility are unpure servers.
Problem here is that you will see a sum up of all installed graphics mods.
Another problem is to find an unpure server.

Sorry guys i have read that its hardcoded.

I also tested it on with host game and it didnt work.
So its about a lot of coding i guess…

You do need to repack the pk3, but you can easily extract and add all kinds of files in a pk3 using WinRAR.

good luck

when using winrar, remember to set archive to .zip format for renaming, pakscapeis maybe a better way to deal with .pk3s

thanks all for the fast replies!

So actually there is no coding needed?

if u keep the original limbo layout but skinned?

(dutchmeat) #8

Yes, the original coding is untouched, just the files that you edit.

when using winrar, remember to set archive to .zip format

That’s when you want to create a pk3. But even then you have to rename it to the pk3 format.

But what I meant was when you Open the limbo pk3 with winrar you have a much easier layout for extracting/ and adding files, rather than winzip.
