Limbo menu won't show

(cghidalgo) #1

I finally figured out how to test a map in ET and now I’m stuck again. When the map finished loading I get a black screen, however, it prompts me to hit “L” to enter the limbo menu and it counts down the warmup round. If I hit “L” ET freezes. Could someone shed some light on this? Thank you!

Now if there were only a thread or two on the basics of map requirements…maybe if they were made sticky so they would be on the top list of threads and easily found…

Oh to dream. :banghead:

If only people wouldn’t be retarded and actually try to address the issue… obviously if I made it that far I read the turorials etc. If you’re not will to help then don’t, but don’t be an ass at the same time. I’m sure I overlooked something and now I need help figuring it out. Thanks.

Oh to dream. :banghead:

yes, you have missed something, and it looks like this–>

You see, this problem has been asked more than any other problem in this entire forum. If you would take a moment to see if this has been answered before, you would get less sarcasm. Try a search on “limbo freezes” and you will see a quaint little topic called “Map Basic Requirements”. Consider your issue addressed.

Oh to dream indeed! :banghead:

cghidalgo, most of my sarcasm was directed at the forum moderators who decided to un-sticky some threads answering exactly what you asked.

They make fantastic games but they suck at running a help forum :stuck_out_tongue:

However, as chavo_one explained, a little searching and reading would have solved your troubles.

The unfortunate thing about this forum is these developers are giving us invaluable pearls of wisdom in some of their posts and eventually they will be lost because of forum cropping. The posts will be lost because they get bumped off by newer posts.

If you combined all the time that the developers spend answering questions in these forums wouldn’t it be great if they took the time and used it for something more permanent ie. more detailed tutorials.

Of course then people would be complaining the developers are never in the forums. Poor guys can never win lol.

SJ,
The reasons you outlined above are why the search function is the most valuable tool in a forum. Sock can’t keep every thread that has valuable information a sticky forever, because frankly, the forum would become too cluttered at the top.

Personally, everytime I have a problem, I go straight to the search function, try about 5 different phrases on my problem, and only then if I can’t find anything will I post a topic.

Yes but my point is that eventually those posts will be deleted automatically by the forum software unless someone bumps them.

In the Swat 3 forums, a game I used to mod and map for, we had a lot of great information in the forums lost because old threads get deleted to replace new ones.

It will be an endless cycle of the same questions over and over again and we will loose some of the great info provided by the developers to posts like “why is my map freezing in Limbo”.

I can still find threads from August of last year with this search tool. I’m not sure that old threads get deleted in the manner that you are speaking of here.
