Lightmapped Terrain map/tutorial?

(WadeV1589) #1

Can someone do a working example map (using custom textures so I can use it in EF :)) of how to do lightmapped blended terrain? I used to be able to do it no problems, however now, using the same shaders as before, the terrain doesn’t show but is solid. I’ve tried following 1 or 2 tutorials but they seem to be yielding the same results.

I’ve got my pcx file, a func_group terrain and shaders named in succession _0, _1, _0to1 etc but they just don’t show even though as it compiles it says Entity # is using indexmap…

I’d post it but I’ve got a feeling it’s so screwed it’d be easier just to start from scratch!

Thanks in advance

Make sure your textures/common/terrain shader has “q3map_terrain” in it.

There’s a decent LMT tutorial here

That was the tutorial I followed and my terrain was invisible…is that tutorial thorough enough? I downloaded slterra (your test terrain map), that compiled before, but now it doesn’t (2.3.x compiled, 2.5.3 didn’t).

Oh and I have textures/common/terrain with q3map_terrain in it, like I said slterra compiled fine before but doesn’t now…

That’s the same one as what YDNAR said which didn’t work for me…

Anyone care to point me in the direction of a tutorial that works with 2.5.3? Something must have changed since the 2.3 series because the terrain compiled fine then, it just doesn’t now.

Happy to say I’ve finally fixed it. So no worries.
