ok, ive searched every mapping site and forum i know of, and also googled this, the problem is, that i put a night sky on my map, and i took out the ambient value in my worldspawn, yet my map is still too bright, i even used a regular texture for the sky, and i have no lights, and no ambient light value, yet theres still light, so i dont think that its the sky texture, and i want it darker. also, i want spotlights in my map, ones planted on the walls pointing down at the courtyard type area, and i also searched all over to see how to do that, yet i cant find anything effective along those lines

ok, i got this working with taht compile, i never looked into how much they can change the look, anyway, i compiled with -light-faster, and it ran fine, then i recompiled a different sky, then ran again, decided i didnt like it, and went back to the other sky, now its incredibly choppy in game with that sky, even after a few restarts. after i get that squared away i also want to get the sky to shed light at a different angle, right now, 2 adjecent walls of my map are lit, and the other 2 are pitch black and their surrounding areas, and obviously we want balance and that kinda hinders the balance.
thx for help
