Light recon: Ghost

Right now there are two light mercs in the game, Proxy and Aura, an engineer and a medic. In my experience both can be used as assault class too, because of Proxy’s weapons combined with his high speed and because of Aura’s healing station. So the only thing I really miss is a light recon class. So I suggest a class called Ghost, which is a light merc which can do quick objectives runs and also performs objective transmissions quicker, and has the ability to record a ghost of him/herself. The ghost would be a projection of the merc which the player can record. The player can then while still being alive decide to replay the ghost to distract enemies. For example, in the final stage of Whitechapel the ghost could record an objective run the short way while actually taking the objective the long way.

The ghost is recorded by flying a small spherical drone (the movement of the drone mimicking the regular movement of a light merc). Technically, on replay a drone would project an almost perfect hologram of Ghost (maybe add a slight bit of transparency to make observant enemies able to identify it as such). Before starting the replay, a drone would hover at its start location. The ghost can be destroyed by shooting at it or before replaying by destroying the drone hovering at the start location. On replay, the drone moves along with the projection but is hidden inside the projection itself. The drone can also be destroyed while recording, but it should be very hard to spot. After recording the drone should teleport back to its start location. While recording Ghost won’t be able to move.

Ghost should have a gun like W:ET’s Sten, meaning it has almost no spread but does little damage plus has relatively quick overheating. Ghost would mostly be fun in public to surprise enemies, but because of its abilities to do quick objective runs and quick transmissions it could also be an interesting merc to play competitively.

Ghost also has the enemy marking ability which Vasilli and Redeye have, but in general I would like to see this ability be turned into a heatmap displayed on the command map instead of the wallhack like ability which it is now.

I like it. To be useful the ghost recording would have to be done at double or even triple speed (and then played back at normal speed). This would allow the player to both be a useful recon and not waste too much time acting out his demo tape.

I also like the enemy identification (through the demo recording). But it shouldn’t be as powerful as Redeye. Perhaps more like a very small aura around the player recording his hologram, meaning that he would have to run through enemies or at least get very close to them in order to tag them.

I don’t think the whole drone thing is needed though. The concept of the hologram works perfectly fine without it.
