Level/Rank locked

I think I’m a quite mediocre player, not too good, not too bad. And I certainly won’t fill the higher ranks of a shooter or any other game. Simply because I don’t have the time that it would take to get there. But I would like to see immediately the experience of my fellow and opponent players. And if they feel the need to make fun of my medium rank, so be it. Its just a game and its not about flower picking. This little “mine is longer thing” would add to the fun. As long as no one gets real obsessed with his rank. But imagine this; your team consists of mostly mediocre ranks and the oponents are very high in ranks. The first emotion will probably be, OH SH**, but if you are going to win with your team, it would make the victory much sweater. I mean you showed it to them that their ranks doesn’t mean a thing when you are just determined enough to beat the crap out of them. And it will be a shame to them to loose against such a low level crew. It would at to the joy of winning. It can also work this way.

And I hate to see what I’ve achieved in a mission, just to see how the XP is taken away from me again

Anyways, I never experienced this bragging rights stuff. But again, its a ruff game and we are all grown “boys” I suppose. Now you don’t know against who you are playing. Would it be shown, you could immediately adapt to that.

As long as no one gets real obsessed with his rank… There’s the issue right there.

Followed by half your team quitting to find an easier game rather than get stomped.

But generally doesn’t in practice. Generally you end up with a few people trying while the rest quit and move onto an easier game meaning that while you may have had a chance of winning you definitely do not have one any more.

Unfortunately history tends to show us that a fair number of people brag about their stats and that adding publically visible levels into team games severely screws with team selection and causes people to ragequit that much faster instead of just trying their best.
As far as I understand it SD are trying to foster team play. Having a persistant, publically visible reward to show off your individual skill is against what they’re trying to do. Why is it always about “MY” character and “MY” level especially when it’s a team game?
They’re raising the caps in DLC.
Also: since you’re awarded abilities for each level and they want you to decide what abilities you take for your character they can’t let you just keep going and buy everything out.
Besides: levels don’t really matter. They’re there to help you learn the class at the begining. When you hit 20 the game begins properly.
If you look at the number of shooters with levels compared to the number of shooters without levels I think you’ll find being capped at level 1 is normal.
they said they are only raising the level cap by 4 levels so its like new DLC plus 4 levels inda weird but im not fretting over levels i love this game (::stroggtapir:
