Are you a crack Radiant user, but you run out of ideas for maps??

I have a few very good ideas for maps, but I lack the radiant skill =(

Check this design, there is a long story behind it.
As some might see it has some resamblance with 2bit’s 2tanks (racer)
And you are right, but this map has some really different turns and could be a very different map.
I asked 2 bit to do this map, but 1. he didn’t had the time and 2. he didn’t want to make 2 maps that had anything to do with eachother.

Anybody?!?!

I’d like to stay close on this project, so you’re not on your own.

ehr… isn’t easier for you to learn using gtkradiant? the manual is very good and the sticky topics in this forum contains the best tutorial i ever seen. If you really have great ideas, the best way to realize them is to do it your way!

P4nth3r, great layout. I think it is a map than can be done.
Mike, the mapping has many ingridiences … eh, or however it is spelled in English :slight_smile: as you know and I must admit that I find vehicles one of the toughest ingri… aspects of mapping. It takes a lot of time and concentration to get those tanks moving the way you want them to behave!
not that it is impossible, but it takes an experienced mapper, in my opinion.
P4nth3r, you do know that there can never be two tanks with each haviing a mounted tank-machine guns, in the same map? I tried this in my FFF Mayhem map, and it was found to be impossible. Some said it was due to the code in the quake engine. (I ended up using two tanks, like I planned, but without any mounted guns.)
I do not have the time to help you with this major mapping project, but I do hope that someone will pick up the layout and make something out of it.

i’m making a tankrace map atm, but it’s not that compicated. just 2 tanks, both teams have to repair it first and then escort it for one round. the team that escorted the tank all the way to the finish first wins. but both teams can also make 2 tankbarriers to delay the other team. the map is almost finished :smiley:

@P4nth3r and Loffy: i didn’t want to be rude, it was only my opinion. I think if you have a project in mind, nobody will reach exactly the result you expect, that’s why i suggest to make it yourself.

Thnx loffy for your info , I did knew it about the two tanks (i have been working on this map with some help of 2bit)

I know it needs an expert mapper to do this.
I know it is not fun to make a map for somebody else, but I hope somebody will do it.
This is not a normal tank race, as you might have seen.

I know everybody tell me to start mapping, but believe me , I tried and I just cant =(

Anybody else who wants to do it or try it? (2bit promissed me to help where he can so you will get some support from him)

Sorry, I am busy with my current mapping project (a steal-the-gold-outdoor-castle map).
Will monitor this project thought, and give you advise and moral support.
As I said, layout and design is realistic and fun, and I hope someone will build it.

Hi again!

Any news about this map-idea? Anyone working on it?
And how about that other tankrace map? Is it under construction still?

In Panther’s map:
The are two ways for each tank to go: Over small bridge, or over big bridge in centre.
Is this necessary? How about removing all bridges, and letting the tanks follow the ways via little bridges? In other words, no centre way.
And instead of the little bridge, there will be a second tank barrier?

About the truck and gold: Why not have two banks, two gold-boxes, and two trucks?
The first tank to reach the bank, will open only one bank. If allies reach bank with their tank, the axis bank is destroyed and the allies can steal the axis gold.
Allies will run to their truck, and try to drive it to victory.
At the same time, the axis can try to stop the allies AND try to drive their tank all the way. If axis reaches bank with tank, they will destroy the allied bank, and they can steal the allied gold. Axis can then run to their truck with the gold.

First truck to reach the end, will win.

This will perhaps create more chaos, but on the other hand it will create more mayhem and insane fragging. Is the map for competitive play or for fun-servers with 25 vs 25 pub games?

WeeBull, screens look OK. Just concentrate on make it all work. Then we can take a look at the map and help you finish the project and release a nice and functional betaversion for playtesting.

Those are not bridges, but tunnels.
And the fun part is, that if you defend right, your tank get get to the bank faster (if the tunnel is not destroyed)
So it gives more options (options are fun)
If your tunnel is detroyed you will have to take the long route.

No mappen yet =(

I just dont have time to learn it =/

Tunnels? Ops. Missed that.
Still think my idea that BOTH teams can break into bank, is OK.
Makes it much easier to map.
(First team to reach the end with the truck will win).

Idea is good. It is just that it takes so long to make that feature (two paths for two tanks).
It needs lots script coding and work, to get it all right.
And I have no idea how to get the tanks to run on two separate paths (too difficult for me).
I’m sure your two-paths-for-tank design will show up in a map someday.
