I don’t think gun only is any better than melee only. Phantom has his very own melee weapon, he’s obviously meant to melee (as well), and he’s not very good at that.
And just because he’s better with a gun than a sword, does not make that the “correct” way to play him. Not unless SD actually posts “Phantom isn’t for melee”. It just means his melee is underpowered. Sure, YOU may think ranged is more fun, but that’s just an opinion. I’m sure ALOT of people got Phantom because of his sword, and I assume many want to actually use it without being completely rubbish.
Also, the cloak->headshot playstyle relies on good aim. Not everyone hits headshots with every shot they fire, so that tactic works mostly for players who would do well no matter the merc. The rest of us would like to be decent with Phantom as well :<

running around with a sword should be a viable strategy in this first person shooter, because i cant shoot for shit.
