Lets talk about operatives...

So I a few things I would like to discuss about the operative class, and thought maybe some other people might want to as well.

The operative can’t really do anything while in disguise, you can’t even mark targets for your team! In the rare chance you find an enemy alone you can take then out, but most if the time your going to get killed a few seconds later, even if you take 3 guys out, I feel like I could achieve the same thing on the battlefield without a disguise.

If operatives could still mark targets with the spotters ability, or whatever it’s called, I think the whole “spy” thing would make much more sense.

We don’t really have any kind of backstab ability, you can melée with a knife if you have a pistol, but you better make sure to have your pistol out before going into disguise because you can’t swap weapons without giving up your disguise!

Our ability to hack into the enemies radar is okay, accept that quite alot of people don’t use the radar, so it’s not really an amazing skill compared with other class abilities.

We don’t have any ability to buff our team, while ever other class does.

Spotting mines is not that important because of the pace of the game, and most people don’t have difficulty seeing them in the first place. I don’t even know if you can spot mines while in disguise…

On alot of the maps, when your defending, there is no hacking objective, and placing “firewalls” really isn’t that thrilling.

Controling and hacking turrets is fun, but you need to level up before using these abilities.

Overall the class is okay, but I feel it’s missing some things…

No offense, man, but you’re wrong on tons of things there.

Yeah, actually you can.

You can spot mines while disguised, and you may not know this about classes other than Operative, but they can’t see mines at all unless they’re marked. They’re completely invisible otherwise.

Yes, it sounds like Operatives in Brink are even less useful than before. They even removed team doors which Covert Op could previously open. Too confusing for consoles ? Operatives were the least useful class already, and I’m talking about fair pubs, forget clan matches. And you need a perk to have 2 mines active now ?!

Trust me, “Comms hack” will be an amazing ability once players get more experienced. All decent and above players in W:ET and ET:QW relied on radar. Particularly on defense when there are multiple routes. It’s sad, but I think Operatives may be currently better on defense (Comms Hack + Caltrop)

I don’t know if it works (I don’t have the game), but Hack Turret + Control Turret could be quite fun. But it’s very expensive - two abilities. I assume if you just hack a turret it will be facing the wrong side. Turret abilities in general would be useful if turrets were more dangerous. EMP grenades were amazing in ET:QW, they were the only way to shut down a ground vehicle instantly.

Operatives are amazing. I spent half a game last night in disguise marking the entire team over and over. I spot evry mine. Caltrops are near OP status. Going in disguise, taking out a lone wolf, and redisguising after hacking his comm? Yes please.

They are a mix of crowd control and intel. I can’t wait to combine hack turret with disguises.
