Let's talk about competitive and fletcher

The Dickens update introduced the new friendly fire and collision in competitive mode, and, after four matches of playing, I can safely say that fletcher is not fun to play, not for me atleast, with friendly fire turned on. All crowded close combat areas (think generator room on bridge), which fletcher is supposed to excel at, are now nearly impossible to work in considering you will almost always kill a random teammate that is just around there. I am sure this is also a thing that I need to learn to deal with as a player, but it really ruins the fun in fletcher to me to just slow his playstyle down all the way while in competitive because you can’t really do what you are supposed to be good at anymore. I am not sure about blishlok fletchers on this one, but I assume they also have this problem but just a little bit less because they can still output reasonable damage at longer range. Nader also has this problem, but in a lesser degree considering grenades have a longer range and the backup weapon of nader is an SMG.

Any thoughts on this?

Never had an issue in Pugs. Won’t have an issue with MM. If people are too stupid to walk nearby when I warn them I’m bombarding an area it is their fault.

Lets talk about “Mercenary Discussion” forum…

I already knew this was in the wrong section, but edit wouldn’t allow me to do anything, so I couldn’t say that.

The thing is that the avarage comp player isn’t really all that great, and if you kill them they will vote you -xp which will make you rank down sooner or later and when that happens, you get matched with even shittier players.

Whether or not the average player is great the tournament scene is FF enabled. It only makes sense for the in game competitive to be FF enabled as well.

Players will either need to get used to the system of FF for Fletcher or switch to casual(Or just change to a different merc). Plenty of people are already used to it through private servers/PUGs. If you practice it will become second nature.

You just have to put up with it for a bit, you’ll get used to it. You can do cool tricks like having a medic kill then revive a team mate.

God forbid you can’t mindlessly spam stickies anymore…
