Let's Show Nader Some Loving?

Any good player will knife you before you hit the ground, let alone press ‘f’. Martyrdom is in a sweet spot wherein

a) too far away - gibbed by guns
b) too close - gibbed by knife.

You also can’t cancel martyrdom after pressing it, so an opponent running at you with a knife out presents an impossible situation ( you have to start martyrdom or be gibbed, but starting martyrdom will make the opponent run away)
Yes, most good players will knife you before it goes off. However, there is always that in between area where you’re close enough to maybe knife or to get away. Sometimes that line is blurry. Also, as we all know, the knife can be anything but consistent so you’ll blow up when you miss something that shouldn’t have missed (love that with revives too).
I’ve found the knife slash (not quick knife, which is anything but quick) to be quite reliable actually.

Reliable and 100% always working are two different things. I’ve stood over some corpses and staring straight down at them and knifed only to not gib them. Then do it again and still miss. It’s not common but it does happen. I tend to crouch a lot when I knife now due to this.

It seems like the players hurtboxes aren’t quite correct at times or too low to the ground for the range of the melee weapon you’re using. I wonder what the hitbox is like on the different melee weapons actually. The paddle is quite obviously a far range weapon but I wonder what the hitbox difference is on the different knives.

Is there even a sweet spot right now where triggering martyrdom will leave your opponent too close to retreat, but too far away to knife you? For any mercs? I can’t seem to get it right, anyway. When I get martyrdom kills, it’s either because I’m around a corner and the person coming doesn’t know I’m there ( which is cheap ), or because they just choose to ignore me ( which is … weird ).

There may be some other situations where martyrdom is useful, but they’re few and far between. In most cases, it feels like an afterthought, and does nothing but punish carelessness.

Yeah I just think it’s the range, so maybe if you are at some angle it may not connect. I also usually crouch to knife, which always works AFAICT.

I played again with Nader yesterday, and I found a critical issue with Martyrdom :

What’s the point of using Martyrdom if someone can just downright cancel it ? Exemple : I died on a Proxy that I saw comming at the last second yesterday, so I managed to trigger my Martyrdom quickly. I saw my grenade exiting my pocket, bouncing on the ground, and magically disappearing when Proxy knifed me slightly later : seriously…

Once the nade is out, it has to stay. Either way it’s the kind of ability that would never work (unless players in front of you are new or unaware of what Nader is able to do). Tweak the range of Martyrdom if needed. Some players however seems to hate the mechanic that Martyrdom is, and I really wouldn’t mind if it was dumped. Actually, I’d even prefer to see it dumped for two more nades in the Grenade Launcher. It’ll give Nader more capacity at clearing corners and area denial.
