I’m proud to present you my first map : Leningrad - Beta 1 :slight_smile:
First ,the map can be downloaded > here < or > here < (~11 Mo)

Background :
The allies are besieged in Leningrad and the Axis have planned a attack.
The allied objective is to :
#1 - Steal the documents of this attack
#2 - Transmit the content of these documents via radio to the HQ
To breach the axis defenses, the allies have a tank. They can also disable the communication means of their enemies to handicap them!
The Axis team can build barriers to slow down the allies.

Allied
Main objectives :
#1 - Escort the tank to the tunnel
> 1.1 - Destroy the tank barrier #1
> 1.2 - Drive the tank behind the security gate
> 1.3 - Destroy the tank barrier #2
#2 - Steal the document and bring it to the radios in the park
Secondary objectives :
#1 - Destroy the radio #1 to disable the artillery fire
#2 - Destroy the radio #1 (lengthen the axis spawntime)
#3 - Destroy the generator (lengthen the axis chargetime)
#4 - Build the assault ladder for a new way to the objective
#5 - Destroy the brick wall for a new way to the objective
#6 - Destroy the axis command post & build your own!

Axis
Slow down the tank & protect the documents at all cost!

Some details
Each team has a maximum of 3 respawn

  • The respawn near the 1st tank barrier no longer belong to the axis team as soon as the tank passes the 1st tank barrier. It becomes allied when the command post is built.
    It is definitively allied if the command post stays allied 2 minutes, or the tank passes the 2nd tank barrier.
  • There is a flag in the bunker in the cemetary. This respawn first belong to the axis team.
  • For gameplay reasons, the assault ladder can be built only when the tank passes the 2nd tank barrier.

As this map has been released on the 02/03, some bugs have already been found, in particular :

  • A door behaving very badely at the last axis spawn ^^
  • The 2nd allied spawn appears on the command map too early (In fact, allies have to build the command post to enable it)
  • Some sounds are missing
    I’ll make all the fixes and improvements as soon as possible!

How about making the city a bit more ruined. C’mon, the German surrounded the city for three years, and almost no ruins! Or at least I don’t see too many in the pics.

I had already discussed it with some people, and I think I’m going to add details of destruction and ruins as long as it does not impact too much the framerate. And it’s not that easy with the fog ^^

BEAUTYFUL map! I was so impressed that I waypointed and scripted the whole map for Omni-bot (http://www.omni-bot.de), the I put it onto my server ( stfuclan.kicks-ass.net:27960 ) which is a ET 2.60, ETpub 0.62 + Omni-bot 0.51 + Windows 2003 srv and the map crashed almost instantly. I and the rest of the guys on the server got error nr 130.
I hope it will be fixed cause the map looks GOOD (and I have spent several hours waypointing and scripting it :slight_smile: ).

I have never tried to script a map with Omni-bot, so I don’t know what this error is referring to, but I’ll have a look at this script if it is possible.

Anyway, thanks for trying :clap:

PS : Have you tried running the map on this server without Omni-bot?

Great map. Tho I dont think most of ET players are french, so the french information texts are a bit off. I’d like to see them in english. If you have trouble with translating them, I’m sure there is someone willing to help you in that.

@c22dragoon : The messages in french are funny quotes of a flim. There is no translation of this flim in any other language. All the messages related to the gameplay are in (my? ^^) english.
As it does not represent any help for the players but it make me laught a lot, I think that I will not change it :smiley:

First of all, nice work… great map for a beta1 version. We have put it in our 10 map cycle on our etpro server @ et2.hirntot.org:27960 and are getting mostly positive feedback for that map. I personally think it’s a very nice map and i’d be happy to host a beta2 soon :slight_smile:

However, i have run across some minor bugs:

  1. Allies CvOp with axis uniform can not open axis doors (and vice versa??)

  2. some satchel, construction and dynamite symbols are missing on the command map

  3. when you destroy the axis arty radio, there is no construction pile for axis (although they can rebuild it, as far as they know :wink: )… same with the other axis radio i think

Other things that “spontaneously” came to my mind:

  1. The allies radio (to transmit documents) should be constructible and destroyable (eg. by satchel)

  2. The (nicely looking) graveyard needs more tactical importance… as for now, most players don’t even know it exists except they get lost on the map :slight_smile:

  3. Some of the objective messages (like: barrier destroyed) are in french, too… maybe you could change those into english (not your movie comments as mentioned above^^)

  4. The wings of the big wooden door at axis rear spawn open in both directions at the same time… looks a bit stupid imo

Hmmm… i think that’s all for now :smiley: i’m really really desperate to see a beta2 in action…

About the bugs :

1 : As far as I know, there is only one door which can not be opened by a CoverOps (the one near the last axis spawn… I’ll check the others and maybe add a sign to this one
2 : I know there is one missing for the crates of the ladder. However, this is normal for the radios
3 : I’ve added some brushes to represent the damaged radios :]. I’ll work on the command map markers to make it clear :chef:

Others :

1 : Why not :smiley:

2 : It is an important place of the map. It’s really hard to attack without the flag. I’ve changed the autospawns… maybe should I add one more path to it?

4 : Yep, it’s stupid :frowning: but fixed :banana:

I’m still working on the beta 2. Other bugs have been fixed, I added some detail, etc… I hope I’ll be able to release it by the end of the month :beer:

I was just about to start a new topic since the beta 2 has just been released :beer:

It can be downloaded

Changes :

* Moved the command to another place : defense at tank barrier #2 should be more difficult now
* Fixed : many parts of the script (ie : respawn were often not enabled when they had to)
* Fixed : Tank path
* Fixed : Mg in cemetary
* Fixed : doors @ axis spawn now open correctly
* Fixed : Animation of tank when stopped at barriers
* Replaced : Grid of the parc with brushes (no more problem of transparency / weapon clip...)
* Added some sounds
* Added :  paths/details/etc...
* Improved lighting

Some paths are larger so that it should be easier to play on 20+ players servers
I hope the bugs fixed will help to make the map well balanced smile
