LEGACY control options (xbox360 & ps3)

i play on xbox360. i am paralyzed with very limited ability to move my fingers (they are paralyzed).

first of all, i applaud slash damage for their efforts with brink. excellent ideas. brilliant game, albeit with a rough initial start. i’m confident things will improve as splash damage addresses the community’s concerns.

however, i need your help splash damage.

1000000000% i thank you for the ability to customize button layout. again, brilliant. without this it would be hard for me to play. but why leave out legacy stick options? since i cannot move my fingers, i must take my right hand off the right stick to fire my weapon. without legacy controls, i cannot track a moving target since my right hand must leave the right stick to reach for the fire button.

please. please. please. add legacy stick controls. (halo series, bad company 2, crysis2, homefront, etc all have legacy control option fyi)

you added every other custom option for controls (100% button remaps, swap sticks for lefties, inverted look options, even a toggle to crouch option)… but no legacy option/toggle. =(

please, again, add this in a patch. even with all the control customizations, without legacy control option/toggle, i will have to return this game.

Agreed. More controller customization options are a plus and can allow more people to enjoy the game.

Never heard of legacy controlls before, or have i…? Anyways, more options are good, i agree with this, im all for it!

legacy is what FPS games had before dual-stick controllers were the norm. goldeneye is the most famous game people refer to when explaining what legacy stick layouts are.

in legacy:

LEFT STICK up/down moves character forward/back
LEFT STICK left/right looks left/right

RIGHT STICK up/down looks up/down
RIGHT STICK left/right strafes left/right

so legacy, basically, swaps the left/right function of today’s default FPS setups.

I’m thinking it changes the left stick setup to be walk forward/back on the Y axis, and turn left/right on the X axis - instead of the left stick being for walking on Y and strafing on X, where the right stick is then required for turning and looking up/down. Meaning you can do almost all movement/look controls on the left stick, coupled with aim assist to avoid (lessen) the need for using the right stick at all.

Anyhow, whatever the specifics, sounds good to me :slight_smile:

that’s funny you made this post… i always look for previews on games i think will be big to see that legacy controls are added and if they are NOT i don’t buy it… i found a bunch of previews saying fully remappable controls but none saying legacy was in the game, so i waited to buy it… a friend of mine confirmed last night that it was left out and i now REFUSE TO BUY THIS GAME…

come on guys… how do you leave out Legacy (for us old school gamers) but add others like southpaw???

I’m a lefty and at first look I was disappointed that they had missed out on the controller layout.

However, after another look there is a ‘custom layout’ option for you to assign any key to any function. Can’t believe I missed it tbh.

first of all, thank you. i mentioned ‘custom’ button mapping in my first post. i know that is there.

however, legacy control stick options are STICK options. not buttons.

there is no option for using ‘customized’ sticks. there is only ‘lefty’ toggle which is not legacy.

legacy is this:

i’m hoping splash damage adds this, as almost EVERY top FPS you can think of has it as an option. when/if they add this, then i can repurchase this game.

I’m a legacy player. I only play fps. Not since Battlefield 2 have I been so disappointed with a purchase. I couldn’t even play for 2 minutes with out the legacy scheme. Years ago I used to research a game to make sure it supported Legacy. I will admit that I didn’t do that for this game. I guess I can only beg Splashdamage to add the control scheme. I’m really looking forward to playing this game. Please add it soon. Thanks
