leFH18 [WIP]

(Bravo) #1

Plenty left to do, will update tomorrow night

(carnage) #2

very sweet

is this for use in a map or will it be avaidable to everyone?

(Bravo) #3

I’m making it for a specific map, but I will make it available to anyone that wants to use it.

Only problem is, I can only texture it in the app I use and wont be able to make a textured version available in .md3, unless someone else volunteers to texture it.

(]UBC[ McNite) #4

Looks cool, but high poly too. What s the specs so far?

(Bravo) #5

I’m just gonna make it, and if the polies are too high, look at ways that I can reduce them. For example, the wheels could be reduced to a simple cylinder and the spokes made as a texture rather than modelled…you know, stuff like that

(btw the quick reply appears to be buggered - it keeps going to 'page cannot be displayed - I use IE6)

(zenith-ply) #6

That format has great clarity. I doubt I could do that even importing radiant meshwork into ms3d or I would at least need max.

I’m a little confused on the details on the current format though. (also the verts I wouldn’t mind knowing, but not that (important) Can you convert it to .md3 or .ase? I would need it (.ase) for conversion with Npherno’s (sp?) compiler to get it, unless you have some other file format to export it in.

But I agree you should wait until it’s “correct” the way you want it, or do basic group texturing. Bit of a pain redoing uv maps…

(Bravo) #7

I can export as .obj, .3ds and a few others…I can then import into milkshape (though textures are gone, and I can’t figure out milkshape texturing), then I can export into .md3 and probably .ase (if milkshape supports that, which I think it prolly does)

Stats so far (added a few extra bits since that pic above)

(zenith-ply) #8

I assume pnts = verts. 3k is fine. As you know it gets iffy around 4k for wolf/et although et has a higher “ceiling”. You wouldn’t need to tag it either unless you wanted parts seperate for lets say trigger damage model spawning etc.

md3 format is good to go. the only reason .ase would be good for is to rebuiild the normals in the compiler and convert to md3, but I use that proggy for pre-importing into milshape from radiant .ase ( as ms3d it does not import .ase yet).

I’m not that great with the text tools in ms3d either, but I know how to use the feature. I use lithunwrap instead for that and ms3d to support the model while I texture.

(kamikazee) #9

It is not a requirement to get it to work, but placing a tag at the barrel end would be great for special effects in certain levels.

(Bravo) #10

Not sure what you mean by a ‘tag’ kam…

Spent most of tonights work remodelling the shield…I didn’t realise it had wings (musta had some Red Bull), did some work on the back too, which has been a little tricky as I can’t find a photo looking at one from the back…

(Shaderman) #11

Looks very good! I like it!

(Bravo) #12

Changed wheels and (since I got new ref pics, did some detailing in the back):

(Bravo) #13

Would like someone to have a go at texturing if possible…

Model in .md3 format

(Bravo) #14

Had a little go at texturing it, didn’t do anything fancy as it doesn’t transfer across anyway

(cookie_box) #15

i think that gun is just awsome! where can i get textured version of it???

(Bravo) #16

I don’t know if anyone did a textured version, maybe someone did.

I would texture it myself but I can’t export the texture to .md3 format so no point doing a detailed texture tbh

The model is there for anyone that wants it though.

btw if anyone wants a model doing for their map, let me know and I’ll gladly look into it (or just click my sig and post up on there to avoid blocking the SD forums with such requests), I am currently making a fokke model for someone, though that aint far off finished (will next get to work on that at the weekend). Then I am making someone a gun, and got a sai to do too (just remembered that one oops).

My models are made free for those that want them, though if its a truly massive model then I might make you pay something to a charity

(WeeBull) #17

Ok you can send me a .obj, I’ll texture this one too. Don’t know how long it will take, because I’m kinda busy, I hope I can do it next weekend.

(cookie_box) #18

Bravo, you said you could make models for people, is there any way to talk in private about it? MSN etc.

(WeeBull) #19

CG Arts is the place to be!

(Bravo) #20

If I switch msn on these days I am bombarded with peeps, so I tend not to give it out any more, as weebull says, the cg arts site is the best place for it as I can put the requests into order and gett feedback on the progress of the models also
