Leaks

(nevloow) #1

Hi,
my map was working fine and then i added a tree from this tut (http://www.pythononline.co.uk/et/tutorial11.htm). i did everything right that i can think of. i just added one tree to begin with and that compiled fine and i could play on the map with no problems. i then added some more trees and added a tree stump. then i went to compile but it said it leaked. a red arrow came up pointing to a door i added abit ago and that door was working fine. any ideas?

Ist the error message “entity leaked”?

This happens when an origin oof amodel is inside a structural brush.
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17394

There are some other threads try to search for entity leaked.

(nevloow) #3

it says Entity Leaked. the door is detailed but it still comes up?

(Qualmi) #4

nehe, didnt we had that before 1 month or so =D lol…

i think u must just delete the leaking entity.

radiant has some wunderful function, to find under misc/find brush. just work with that and delete the entity.

(nUllSkillZ) #5

My guess:
The origin brush of the door is inside a structural brush.

Hi,
i deleted the door and compiled, the door hasnt leaked but a light in the room has. will this keep going on and will i have to delete every entity and replace it?

(Qualmi) #7

dunno, in my maps i never had such kind of leak. i only had leaks when some entity was somewhere outside the void.

but to come to the point. an light entity is really suspicious i think  caus a light entity normally hangs somewhere at a roof or sth. and a roof can sometimes be structual. so if your roof or whatever it was is structual and you put your entity in it, it will leak. that would state nullskillz suspision.

(nevloow) #8

hmmm,
it wasnt atcherly in the roof. also i deleted that light and another light came up leaked. then i deleted all the lights and it said that my trees were leaked. i have just given up and started again. i dunno why it happened again. abit anoying.

(Qualmi) #9

so your debug window must have been full of error messages, hm…

how have you done the skybox ? this sounds like you have created one big brush and are now placing brushes and entities inside that brush. only a suspicion.

do you know this tutorial ? --> http://www.pythononline.co.uk/et/tutorial.htm follow it from the start and it should work everything fine

edit: only to exclude some things for me: how do you have placed the entities inside your map ?

(Manwhore) #10

Have you made sure your skybox is hermetically sealed?

(Qualmi) #11

thats exactly the word i was searching for =D

(nevloow) #12

Hi,
Qualmi that WAS the tutorial i was using and i got to this page (http://www.pythononline.co.uk/et/tutorial11.htm). I added one tree. the map worked fine. i made no changes at all to ANY entities but after i added some more trees it said the enties were leaked and after i deleted one another entity was leaked.

(nevloow) #13

also i havnt added skyboxes because i havnt got there in the tutorial and i dont know what they are. i have done all the tutorial right so far.

(Qualmi) #14

Qualmi that WAS the tutorial i was using

damn, i forgot that XD

Got a screenshot from the underside of your map? Maybe the trees are poking outside of the skybox.
