Scenario
Allies must infiltrate Le Mont St Michel & Steel the Axis Defence Plan for Normandy. There is a gun boat waiting on the far side of the island which provides the escape route. The allies should take the church, establishing a command post then blow the abbey doors, which will give them a strong position from which to steal the plans. There is an alternative way to infiltrate the abbey by working round the side of the abbey to the side door. The Axis need to stop them.

Installation

Please install by placing the PK3 file in …/Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/etmain.

{note hunkMegs usage is significantly reduced - any problems please let me know}

Fixes & Changes from Beta1

*Lots of brush simplification & technical jiggery pokery to reduce BSP size & Hunkmag 	usage
*FPS improvements : 15%+ by my measurements
*A large but'dead' game area removed
*Rope access to abbey removed (I can re-introduce the feature if enough people ask,though it will need to be at a different part of the wall)
*Street signs added + subtle indicators & hints for direction finding
*Some texture tidying & clipping to smooth plaeys passage
*Some door widening to ease gameplay
*Filled out ambient sounds to cover whole map
*Unwanted ww11 sybolism removed
*Exploit where players could walk into pillers fixed (thanks Jec)
*Blocked door at abbey - unbloacked
*Stretched windows - unstretched
*Malfunctioning boat guns removed
*Many gaps in brushes fixed
*Noise added to doors
*Z fighting on stairs to abbey allied spawn
*Missing caulk on abbey church tunnel entrance.

Blow the main Abbey doors
Steal the Plans & escape to the Gun Ship

Axis
Maintain control of the church
Prevent the allies from penetrating the abbey
Defend the plan

if only this map was not with this 20,6 mb to have to d/l :angry
i putted the first version of your map when it was out
but almost of the players were leaving the server…cuz the d/l :bored: :bored:

With beta 1 , many players crashed out,not cos of the download size but because it caused and error with the hunkmeg size (advanced players were able to do a setting in their config files to make it work, but this is hard for newer players). This is hopefully fixed now.

note - there are many other maps about this size for the PK3, bridges, stalingrad etc. etc.

I hope you will give it another try, now I have worked to solve the problem :drink:

sure is beautifull .
only thing i find is you build beautifull buildings bud its way to small like in scale to people .
maybe its just me bud the work that has gone into it must be big .

only thing i dont like is the steps/hillside is way to steep for getting to the boat
and you actually dont need to get all the way to the boat, just close.
and i agree with bart, buildings do seem kind of small, or at least the doorways do!

Doors & alleys a bit small - I know :frowning: - It should still be some fun to play though - this is my first map & I had proceede to far when the 2 people wide door rule was pointed out - it could do with being about 30% bigger or so. Next map :-). The buildings are to scale though…

Good point abou the ‘not get all the way to the boat’ one of those things you get blind to when involved, thanks - I’ll fix for FInal.

first off,the file size dont botter me at all (then again im not a server admin)
the corrridors and pathways are abit narrow/small imo
alot of places u can barely jump inside buildings etc

i have a couple of screenies if you want them with textures problems, and a couple of other small bugs.(not missing textures)just pm me on the forum with ur email

also on the chimneys u might wanna add a black texture at the top of them.
and u could save some filesize on ur map,and also gain some fps if you removed textures that goes underneath the roofs,this could b fixed with some smart brushwork

i like the look of the map,i dont know how it would b to play with two teams of 10 people
as i easaly got lost around the map… even with this page as a refrence while i was playing

The map crashes at the very final end, after you have left the objective on the boat. :frowning:

im not sure whats going wrong with Axxies but i have never had a crashing problem at the end on my server!

Strange Axxies - does it crash on the server or on the players machine - or is it when you run it stand alone

Anyone got any ideas what could cause this?

Well, guys, the thing is that I am waypointing a whole lot of good maps that I like (like this one! :slight_smile: ) for Omni-Bot (http://www.omni-bot.de) + scripting for them. I played this map alone to start with just to see that I wouldn’t risk a several hour job waypointing and scripting it just go down the drain if there were some serious errors, but I never played it to the end. :frowning: Due to some obstacles on the map it wasn’t possible to get the bots to finalize the objective, so…

Anyways, after four hours of work, I uploaded it to my server (stfuclan.kicks-ass.net:27960) and tried to run it. It worked fine until that final moment when the objective is on the boat and… crash!
(as far as I remember it was a client crash, but I will check that again the the server is empty).

This kind of error has never happened in combination with my server, but I have experienced it regular etpub servers (NOT with this map I should say…)

As I said… I will check it during this weekend and get back with a more extensive description of the error.

Ok, I tried the map again on my server yesterday and it seems that the crash is caused by the server, since all players on the server got about the same error message:

“Hunk_AllocateTempMemory: failed on 1937504”

(the address was not identical for any of us, I guess it shouldn’t be)

This happens right after the objective is left at the boat.

The server is running Bill Gates Server OS 2003 Enterprise Edition, it’s a quad Xeon 2.0 MHz, 2 GB PM etc etc. ETPUB 0.63, Omnibot 0.51 and ET 2.60.

Any ideas?

You should be able to increase the hunkm,egs on the sever - there are different hinkmegs type setting, I don’t know them all. If you increase them it would probably work.

On my play version of ET I have


seta com_zoneMegs "32"
seta com_hunkMegs "255"

set in my autoecex.cfg.

Don’t know if its the same for servers?

NB - I’ve been playing this on another server & we’re not getting the problem, so I hope this is enough clues to fix it - other guys here may know more specifically what to do.

above is only if u have ram enough… and u cannot set zoneMegs through a cfg. only through command prompt

I’m afraid it didn’t help. And NO, this is most likely NOT due to the server since only me and another guy is having this problem (and he was on when I tested it). No others have reported any problems with it.

But since it is my server and my ET crashes, I have to bring that map off. Too bad since others have enjoyed it.

(I have 1 GB PM)

Sorry to hear that Axxies - hte map is slightly over the max hunkmeg recomended size - I’ll try to reduce a bit more for the Final version. You may have better luck with that.

I’ve been running this map on =PoW=Chaos (96.31.6.171) for over a week with no problems.
ETPub mod and no complaints about players getting dropped for hunkmeg problems.
