Lava

(Loffy) #1

Hi
Is it possible to do lava, in Enemy territory?, with the Radiant 1.3.11 (beta) and q3map2?
I tried yesterday but failed. Then I though “maybe this is turned off, in ET?”.
What I mean is that I did a brush, gave it a texture, and wrote a shader file for that texture. I included a line, in the shader, that said xxxx lava. Im at work now, so i can’t see exactly what that scriptline was. But it was supposedly going to turn the texture into lava (or something), according to the shader manual - if I interpreted it right.

In sum: how would you do, if you wanted to make a lava pit in Enemy Territory?
Thanks in advance.

(Not urgent.)

PS. Lava and WWII?! Well, Im just mapping for the fun of it. Will not be a proper map. I just playing with shader files, textures etc. Mapping is fun.

I think the surfaceparm lava is gone.
If i remeber right it’s surfaceparm slime in rtcw, but i may be wrong.

Another possibility is to give the lava surfaceparm water and put a trigger_hurt in it.

EDIT:
But if someone shots at the lava it will have water-splashes. So forget it. :frowning:

what about a ‘nomarks’ type water shader? you could use that (or a similar) surfaceparm in the water shader. It may work, i havent dabbled in ET so im not 100% sure… try it.

Hm, we’re onto something here.
I will try it.
Any cool lava textures out there? (I will search for myself, also.)
And, if you can write a shader for lava, please post it here. I would appreciate it. Finding lava texture (or making it myself) is simple compared to writing shader files, I think.
Wrote my first shader the day before yesterday. I did a sky. Used “q3sun - something” and “scroll”. Woa! It actually worked.
Enuff said.
I press Alt + S now. Bye! // Loffy
