Launcher Problems Since Update (16460)

Hello, I have had three instances where I could not open the DB launcher since the latest update.

1)I click on the DB shortcut on my desktop OR the file it points to in the corresponding directory and nothing happens. In task manager I don’t see the program launch in the applications tab. I DO see GameLauncher.exe launch in the processes tab.

2)Game launcher opens and I enter my password and get a ‘cannot find account’ message.

Problem 1 has happened twice and problem 2 has only happened in the past 30 minutes. Both problems 1 and 2 happened in the past 30 mins. After getting the password problem, I tried rebooting only to get the “launcher won’t launch” problem.

Currently I am using Kaspersky AV 13.0.1.4190 which I think updated in the past week. I disabled my AV and tried to launch DB but it didn’t work.

Ok, that was quick. I kept manually ending the gamelauncher process and trying to relaunch the gamelauncher. I tried that about 3 times. Then a Windows firewall window popped up whcih hadn’t appeared before and after I hit allow the launcher loaded. I logged in perfectly. Now I am downloading an update (the hotfix?). So maybe it was just a firewall issue.

OOOOk. Still having problems with this apparently. Doubleclick game launcher and nothing.

Took 3 tries to get the launcher to load.

UPDATE:
-Played a little with Sponge and JB but I exited the game to the launcher at desktop I got a DB Error Dialogue Box that was completely empty.
-I noticed the “click here to update Launcher” text was blinking so I clicked there and the launcher crashed. So now I’m back to taskmanager ending the launcher process and trying to reopen. Yes, I waited a bit to see if the launcher was just being slow.
-I got the game open again and click on VERIFY FILES and when it’s done I get.



-I try to update the launcher again but the launcher crashes.
-Fire up the launcher and wait. I also watch the system processes this time and notice the launcher is taking 13-25% of my CPU for 10-20 seconds. Then it drops down to 3%. Finally after a long period of time (60 seconds?) the launcher opens.
-Gamelaucherupdater.exe did run. It just looked like it killed the DB launcher. There wasn’t any dialogue. Maybe it’s fixed?
-HAHA. Nope. Got the error in the image I posted above again. Still blinking click to UPDATED LAUNCHER.

Keep in mind the date modified on Output.log is 2/23 and I last had problems last night, 2/25.

Looks like some of your files are in the wrong place, have you moved or edited any files? I would recommend uninstalling and then re-installing the game completely.

I have not moved any files on purpose unless there was an unintentional drag/copy. I did notice this morning that I have multiple gamelauncherupdate directories in weird nested structures. Not sure if this is normal.

I have modified some of the .ini config files but it’s been at least since early January. I know I tried changing movescale to reduce y-axis sensitivity. For DB, I have been relatively hands off as far as editing game files go.

I will reinstall. Thanks for the help Toomic.

So I uninstalled DB. Completely deleted the Warchest directory. Reinstalled. Installer said “launching Dirty Bomb” But nothing opened. I waited. Ended the process GameLauncher.exe and clicked manually and the launcher opened.

Alright. Verify that “Dirty Bomb” and “Dirty Bomb” Launcher are set to allow in Windows Firewall. Note: it didn’t ask me to allow once I reinstalled. It’s on the list from the first installation?
Go into Kaspersky AV and add the Warchest folder to the exclusions list. Add the GameLauncher.exe file to the trusted applications list just in case. Reboot.

Click the Dirty Bomb icon. Nothing (waited 60 seconds). End GameLauncher.exe and try to relaunch again. Nothing. Try third time and it loads. Here is the output.log file.

Close launcher. Click DB icon again. Doesn’t load but I don’t end the process. Try to zip up the output.log file and I get the following message from winrar:

    The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Just a final update on this issue. I still experience issues with the launcher but not on a clean boot. When exiting the game sometimes the game launcher process does not end and it’s when it doesn’t close is when I have problems.
-To try to replicate start with a fresh boot and open the task manager to watch the processes in memory.
-Start the game launcher and then close the game launcher once the launcher has loaded properly.
-repeat this 3-5 times. With a 10 second break in between each cycle.
-on my system, game launcher will usually fail to close on the third opening after which the launcher will no longer open again.

Started since about 1 week ago, last Friday. Everything ok before. No changes to my system.

This line here from output log looks suspicious. I checked yours and you have it as well.

Yes, it seems this is not going away. Also the task-manager, start, stop method didn’t work for me. Will do a re-install soon and see if that helps.

I’ve reinstalled multiple times. I tought it might be a pasword issue but a pasword reset on the site did not change anything? It’s the same right?

JRAD told in IRC that indeed it is a password issue. Though i am not sure what would be wrong. I can log into other games, which also require passwords, as well.

And yup, nothing has changed in PW, otherwise everyone would have that problem. It is also not because we are too stupid to type our passwords :slight_smile: Otherwise i wouldn’t even be able to write here. Your log looks also pretty different, i have a lot of json stuff and ngix stuff in it. Wonder what that is though …

I know i changed my password some time back, and then changed it again. I’ve resseted it now multiple times from the site but till can’t login. Pretty strange…

Do you use some special characters in your password that are no longer recognised?

e.g. !"£$%^&*()_+{:@~<>?,./;’#[]-=|

Quick question while I’m looking into this, did you have any problems signing into the forums/website with the password that got rejected by the launcher?
