Latency problems ?

(reflectiveDinosaur) #1

Hey,

I’ve been playing since the moment the game got on steam and my ping the first 1/2 days was a constant 40, regardless of server but from those few first days on it’s been from 64 to 80 every single time… I haven’t done anything abnormal concerning my connection or ISP… so, how can it be explained?

And before some funny individual throws the first rock with it still being low ping and playable, I’m a latency sensitive person (regardless of how gay that sounds), It makes a huge difference to me from 20 to 35 and so it did as well from 40 to 60’s/80’s.

Sorry if this is too vague, I’m just seeking if it’s on my part or not…

Enjoy your games

Do you use quick join or server browser?

If quick join, try out server browser and see if you can find any low ping servers.

I use server browser always, I always go for the lower latency servers, and it’s never the real ping that shows on the browser

It’s not you, their servers are just bad. I get the exact same issue all the time. Server browser says 25-30 ping (that’s what I get in any other game out there), but when I join the ping is usually 40-45 or sometimes up to 85 which is just ridiculous for an European server.

I also can’t play competitive mode because their routing seems to be super weird so I get 200 ping on those UK servers that comp mode uses.

Sounds like your connection tbh. So many things can cause this, a common one is neighbourhood congestion - is it better at non-peak times? Like the middle of the night. The line might be degraded anywhere along it, from your house to the exchange point. Your ISP could have changed how you route to servers without informing you - because they never do, or they’d be sending out notices all the time.

So many things, but it’s almost certainly your connection.

It’s not his connection. Everyone’s ping degrades over time, especially if the server is 8v8. Their servers just can’t handle the amount of data or something. I play with guys from Sweden and UK with good fiber connections that get 20 ping everywhere, but even they get like 30-40 in the same server AFTER some minutes. Everyone in the server.

Nothing new tho. As far as I know they use Multiplay and everyone knows their servers are terrible.

I also get the CONNECTION TO SERVER LOST error during games frequently, which didn’t happen since the beginning. I’m almost sure it’s not my internet

That’s the server. The servers shit themselves frequently.
