Hard to understand everything you are saying, but I get the gist of it.
I absolutely loved Wolf:ET when it came out and I played it to death. If SD were to simply remake that game I would be thrilled. Of course, we know that isn’t smart. I thought ET:QW was the greatest thing ever and it broke my heart when the novelty wore off and players started to abandon the game. It really followed through on the concept of its predecessor. I flew that Anansi around and had a blast.
I was very excited for Brink and pre-ordered it. I didn’t like it very much and apparently that opinion was shared by most players because it never seemed to get the healthy community it needed. Perhaps F2P would have helped, who knows. I think ultimately the problem was that it wasn’t smart like the ET games, it was more of just a meat grind. The parkour aspects couldn’t save it. Coming from Brink I can understand your concern about not getting an original game. NOBODY wants it to be pedestrian.
It seems to me from the limited material I’ve seen that the devs really wanted to capture some of the aspects that made ET great. If that is so then I have high hopes for Extraction. (BTW that name is lame compared to DB) I think you should give it a shot before you dismiss it over some early trailers from PAX.
By the way, when you say you want something you haven’t seen before, it makes me think of Titanfall. Have you given that a look? The wall-hopping, mech-flinging mechanics are something I definitely haven’t seen before. It seems like that may have been what they wanted to do with Brink, but they weren’t able to execute.
