Lag!

(ashirah) #1

Okay… SO I’m an xbox owner, I play other FPS smoothly or so with my connection (cod as an example) and I was sooooo looking forward to playing Brink I even talked about it with my pupils (I’m a high school teacher actually)
And now…
No real solo: fair enough, it took me four months to complete last cod’s solo mode and when I ended it I had always played more than three full days of cod. I don’t really give flying **** about solo playing I’m all competitive gaming and that’s the end of it.
I’m a real life shooter and airsoft player, and a hardcore lover of shooting real people virtually.
AI are ALWAYS boring anyway.
And that’s where the problem is: okay it’s mainly a multiplayer game BUT then HOW COME IT LAGS THAT MUCH!
Is it because I’m French?
If that’s the case, then you should have written “USA only” on the box, and I wouldn’t have bought it!
I played more than 200 games of MK9 with close to no lag at all. I’ve had, all in ll more than 60 days of cod since cod 3 and had very little lag or not at all all the time.
My! What’s the problem here?!
You can’t launch a massively multiplayer game and have players being unable to walk three paces in a straight line.
S M A R T? How could I enjoy that when my soldier walks like an aged parkinsonian?
I realley hope that issue will soon be fixed. reviews have not been lenient with the game and I really wanted to see them being contradicted by the ectual game.
But at the moment I CAN’T EVEN PLAY IT!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Dont worry man i know your frustration. I am giving Splash till the end of the month.

A few suggestions i can make, when searching for a match search for competitive or advanced, sometimes there is less lag but also harder to find matches. You could focus on challenges until/if the lag gets fixed. Playing the story does offer some fun, but once you’ve gone through 3-4 times it starts to get dry.

Like i said i’d stay till the end of the month.

Everyone’s experiencing lag (well, almost everyone). It’s not because you’re French. Surprisingly, it’s actually because it’s Brink. I’m hoping that they fix it soon. I’ve had the chance to play online a couple of times, and each time I get killed during a critical firefight because lag makes my targets un-hittable.
Some people have experienced quite a few lag-free matches, but not everyone is so lucky.

I’d say unless you want to return it, wait a few weeks and I’m hoping they’ll have the lag issues fixed. Good luck.

@Ging Thu
I’d tend to do exactly the same as you. But my greatest fear now is that the game won’t be taken back for the usual 35 euros at the end of the month if all the issues have not been adressed by then!
I mean it. The game has had a very, very POOR review on the leading online gaming site in France… Sooooo… I wonder if I’m not going to resell it to buy L.A Noire. It’s a shame really.
I was (we were) expecting so much from Brink.
If they want to keep the slightest measure of credibility, SD needs to react and react quickly no matter what money it takes, if they can do something they should, or else some people (and I’m one) will never buy anything from them again! You really can’t make a game come out with so many intolerable flaws!
Makes me feel ripped off!
I for one want to support indy compagnies in gaming. But I really feel insulted by what the post brought me this morning!

I totally understand your frustration. Paul Wedgewood did come out and say that SD is “urgently” looking into fixing the lag issues. I know around where i am Gamespot’s are only giving 25 bucks for brink and they said it will stay that way for a couple months so that really sux. But if SD does fix Brink its going to be insanely fun and having to re-buy is something i dont wanna do.

Splash Damage’s reputation is definitely on the line with this game and i think (I HOPE) they realize it. Many people i have talked to are extremely disappointed with how little the game was polished. As i have said in other posts there is no excuse for the lack of a parrty/lobby system. And the lag…well…nothing can be said, everyday this game goes on without a fix SD losses more and more customers.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt because i know if this is an honest mistake than they deserve a chance to fix it. I am willing to give them that. I am a pretty patient gamer, i buy all the “risky” games. Lost Planet 2, the Original Section 8. I bought and played the hell out of them all, even though after 1 month both games were dead online. I really want to enjoy Brink the concept is awesome and im tired of Team Slayer style of gaming.

Just hang in there man!

How can you release an MP focused game on a console that is unplayable due to lag? Much less no lobby system. Why is this game even on consoles? It wasn’t designed for them in the slightest.

Above all else this type of game shouldn’t lag. Its built for online MP!

I’m begging my friends not to sell the game because I can see its greatness buried beneath the garbage. Console players need an update on the lag fix DAILY or Splash Damage has committed console suicide.
