Lag Spikes and Non-smooth Gameplay After Update.

(Fae) #1

After the most recent update the performance of the game has seemed to have dropped by quite a bit, as so their are more lag spikes, with the game no longer being smooth, but instead kinda rough visually. FPS is over a hundred, but for some reason this appears to be an issue now. If anyone else is having this issue please post here so that it can get fixed if it has become a global issue.

Can confirm. Only 40-80 ping on my usual US West servers and I’m hopping around like Tracer half of the time.

Dirty bomb has always had fps problems for me. Yes, I understand it’s because I’m using a laptop with a integrated GPU but back in closed beta I could run the game with a smooth 60 fps before all these updates started coming in.

(Elvisz) #4

Yeah the optimization for laptop gpu is really bad.-mostly ppl with nvidia have problem. (me too)

(neverplayseriou) #5

@elvisz @black db is cpu heavy not gpu.

(Elvisz) #6

my laptopotato has 5th generation intel I5 cpu…
at work im using a desktop with core2quad intel, that is 7 year old and get better performance…

(neverplayseriou) #7

cause a laptop with an i5 is nothing @Elvisz

(Elvisz) #8

thank you for your information. you helped us alot.

@Elvisz

Check CPU temps and make sure thread sync is off.

Yup. It’s almost always thread sync getting reset after the update. And when it’s not it’s almost always temps being too high and your cpu/gpu clocking themselves down due to speedstep or amd’s thermal threshold equivalent.

(Black) #11

Yeah I’ve noticed that which is why I make sure in the task manager that my CPU is being used less. From turning off my antimalware to closing every program.

Also I’ve noticed keeping the CPU cool helps so I used a cooling fan, but even then I notice some weird fps drops.

(Fae) #12

For me personally, none of this applies, as my CPU handles the game fine, thread sync was, and still is off, great frames and GPU. Which is why I am personally a bit puzzled.

Ill have to agree with Fae. I used to get 300+ fps on the home screen and now it’s capped at 40 (weird). Also I log into games where I ping 12-10. Game will be fine most of the match, then all of a sudden game will lag and be unplayable. Very frustrating, I like the game, but if this is going to be the norm going forward it’s gonna start being unfun.
