Lag, Skipped Frames, Slow Loads, Unplayable (SOLVED)

(rosully) #1

I have been playing this game for quite some time and not once has it ever been like this. I usually play dirty bomb with high or medium graphics settings and it has always been fine. Other than ping issues on certain servers and in the menu, there has never been much lag or dropped frames in game. I was playing fine yesterday with high materials on and everything and it was running great. However, after updating the game today for the melee mayhem event (which I was previously so hyped for)** I simply cannot play the game. It is slow beyond belief and it jumps frames like crazy**. It takes forever for the guns and skins to load in when joining a match and there are absences of some noises. It is nowhere near what it has been for nearly 2 years now and I’m really disappointed. I seriously can no longer play the game and I’m definitely not buying melee weapon skins when I can’t actually play the game itself.** If any of you have an explanation or tips to help fix this I would really appreciate it. I assume it has something to do with the 64 bit client but I’m no expert on topics like that. **

Just because I know this will be asked:

Acer Aspire Laptop E 15
Intel Core i5-6200U 2.3GHz
Nvidia GeForce 940MX (2GB Dedicated VRAM)
8GB DDR4 Memory

Not the most ideal set up but has never failed me before today.

Try to delete your .cfg files first of all.

@B_Montiel Ummmm would you mind telling me how to do that?

I’m surprised he didn’t respond yet, you can do that by going to (as an example: C:\Users*Xenithos*\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame) the default pathing for the unreal engine 3 setup on your specific computer and then deleting the file IN Shooter game called: “Config”

The game will recreate the entire config file once the game is loaded up.

@Xenithos Thank you! I’ll try this later and see how it goes. Any other advice?

Besides get a custom HUD if you don’t already use one? Naw, not really. If it works, you could always insightful the post. rofl

@Xenithos and @B_Montiel This sadly did not seem to work. I have a 64 bit computer and it has never had a problem before but ever since this update its just too laggy to play. Do you think I should wait for more 64 bit optimization or try and find another solution?

My guess is that it switched from using your GeForce 940MX GPU to using Intel’s Integrated Graphics CPU, cause that happened to me as well. To fix it, go to Nvidia’s control panel (Search “Nvidia control panel”). Under 3D settings, select “Manage 3D Settings”. Select the Program Settings Tab, and select Dirty Bomb (you might need to add it first). Then choose your GeForce 940MX as your preferred graphics processor.

@auwi Thank you so much! After fixing this everything is back to normal! Hopefully it stays this way. I would have had no idea to check that so I really appreciate it. Thanks to everyone else as well.
