Lag Compensation, how should it be handled?

It does make spectate pretty useless.

BS back at you. High pingers get hits registered with delays, but they do register, thats the thing with compensations. But when you shoot a lagger and nothing, not now nor later, then its bs.
And dont give me that crap about high pings or packet loss, its not my first rodeo. My average ping is around 40 and ive alredy seen players lagswitching couple of times.

Lagswitching is a term that gets thrown around a lot even though it’s rarely ever a thing. Most people who randomly ping spike simply have bad internet in their area that chokes at certain times (I used to have this issue myself). Others are on a WiFi connection that has somebody else taking up all the limited bandwidth streaming Netflix. Or their WiFi is being interfered with baby monitors (a problem for people in apartment buildings mostly) and other similar devices that use the same frequency and channels at traditional 2.4ghz WiFi. Or they have torrents going in the background and don’t realize it.

When a person “lagswitches” it means that they know they can gain an advantage in a situation where they lag like crazy. It’s something that is a lot more common in fighting games because people will do it when you’re trying to do a combo to them and the lag makes you drop it. It’s not as prevalent in FPS games because there is little advantage to be gained other than trying to make them get near the end of their mag while trying to hit you. And then unload on them.

So most of the time you see peoples ping spiking or warping it’s due to the other things I mentioned and isn’t intentional.

Haven’t seen any lag switching since killzone 2. It was proper bad back then.
