After the patch I get extreme stuttering on EU servers (200 ping). It pretty much looks like I am in the middle of an earthquake while I move around and I slow and skip forward constantly. If there was something altered patch side, then I can tell you now it is not working out well.

I tried playing through a proxy to simulate a bad connection, high ping, non-prioritised packets, etc. and it was slightly, but noticeably, stuttery so I can see where INF3RN0 is coming from with this one.

Slow motion to fast motion skipping is really getting frustrating. Never used to get a single blip of stutter on EU. I don’t think it’s on my end because I don’t have the issue on NA servers.

I’m warping thru entire part of maps from time to time (and more often than never sadly) since 2 patches now, it might be my connection but need to run some tests (and I have like 60 in ping), maybe its kinda the same related problem, let me know if you find what caused it, I’m looking on my part too.

I checked with the programmers and nothing has changed on our side in these last two patches that would affect this. Unless there is something going on at Multiplay with their hosting then I’m not sure what it could be.

Well it might be my crappy net but it’s really weird because its not lagging per se, its just uber warp from part of the map to another, and its not only clientside because i’m also almost unhittable due to these warps, I’ll try to mess with the vsync stuffs and try to get a steady framerates (which I havent yet) before trying anything else.

Tonight it was all over the shop. Despite a ping of 12 and fps which was varying between 30 & 50 I would fire, then 1/4-1/2 sec later the shot would register miles from where I was aiming, again it was impossible to land a shot close up and hitting was a complete lottery. I’m using a GTX 460 for gfx (I do have to switch everything down to low or off). From distance it wasn’t so bad. I need to record a demo somehow. Could be my crappy dell mouse but it just feels wrong. I’ve tried different sens (30 - 70), smoothing on or off but it doesn’t feel like its actual aim related (I could score snap headshots with the sniper rifle), but up close I might as well /kill.

I felt tonight it was better with me compared to other nights. I am still thinking what might be the reason for that improvement. Other games seem to be more stable too. Maybe it is a weird local thing …

Tonight felt like I was pummeling SG shots into people and it was doing nothing. I was hearing the hit register and that was about it.

No, may be worth a try though.

The SG was probably the worst culprit, the other night it was like I couldn’t miss but tonight the massive delay between firing and registering was back and it was impossible to predict that far ahead.

In the first week of alpha i noticed a situation where i killed someone and got killed by that guy at the same time so seemed as if antilag respected both states and let them happen. Few days ago, however, i had multiple occasions where i shot someone, even hear a few hitsounds but a moment later when i had been killed by that guy, his hp was back up as if i hadn’t hit him. I did have a ping of about 100 tho due to overloaded dorm net.

Would be useful perhaps to do some simple 1v1 tests with players with a mix of pings / fps e.g.

Player 1 stands still, player 2 moves at a fixed speed (strafe would be best I guess). Player 1 attempts to shoot player. I seem to fall in the LPB LFP category.

@Anti Just a hunch. Due to secondary classes having used “EnabledCheats” maybe some restrictions had been “off” due to that?
Not that I am aware of anything, I don’t know this engine. But in ET its certainly possible to tweak cvars, which heavily affect how lag works out - like warping around.

The skipping is way less now, but it becomes much more noticeable as the server fills up- not nearly as bad as before at least. The last time I played I would be running in slow motion and then suddenly skip ahead every 30s or so. I am wondering if maybe this is a server stress issue?

Vsync seemed to help a bit but it does seem to flip between 30 and 60 fps or down as low as 15-20 (there is a bad point at the attacker start spawn on Waterloo, looking at the phone box high ground) though I rarely get above 40fps anyway. Its also definately worse with a full server, when we had 4v4 suddenly shots were more in line with what I was aiming at and I felt I was losing to ineptitude rather than prediction issues :slight_smile:

What I was experiencing was neither fps or vsync related. It was evidently some type of client to server communication problem, but I found it really hard to determine whether it was on my end or the game since I am one of the very few testers who pings 200 to EU servers. Either way its dropped from the extreme state it was previously, but I do still notice minor skipping on 8v8 at 200ping.

I can concur. This issue is also happening to me as well. Even just 1v1 in the UK OBJ servers.

Had a really weird issue last night (between 8pm and 9:30pm GMT on LB, I think we were on UK1):

  • Ping was around 130, I was testing poor connection issues by playing though a VPN again
  • We were about halfway though the retrieving docs stage of the map
  • Died and got revived near(/a little bit under) the EV, probably unrelated but mentioning it anyway
  • Then I could run around at super speed, at a guess 5x faster
  • It was pretty stuttery, but it felt like I was unhitable
  • Didn’t die in the time at all
  • This lasted quite a long time, 45 seconds to 1 minute, again just guesstimating
  • Then I just warped back to where I was revived and everything was back to normal

It felt pretty hackery and I was LMFAO whilst it was happening as I could kill but not be killed, however I really hope this can be fixed as it someone figures out how to reliably reproduce it they’ll have a ridiculous advantage.

EDIT: Should probably add that I could still see everyone else moving around at normal speed
