Lack of players in Ranked?

Playing in North America here and it seems like there’s very few players in ranked, even during peak times. I’m not even able to find a match if it’s not peaked times. Only a Silver Master here because I haven’t played much (due to the lack of players mostly)- so it’s not really a rank issue. The wait went from 1-2 minutes, up to over 10, and even over 20 or not being able to find a match at all. When I do find a match, it tends to have the same players as the days before.

Just wondering where all of the ranked players are at and if other regions are doing any better? It really sucks, this means getting those cards will be close to impossible and getting a Cobalt rank certainly will be impossible if this keeps up.

Personally, I thought the introduction of the Ranked cards would increase players, but it appears like Ranked won’t be doing much better than last season after another week.

Even in Australia, as a Cobalt Officer, I can find games in less than 10 minutes since they opened the skill gap up.

This is why I’m confused. North America should have a lot more players than what’s showing up. Granted, I’m not currently trying to play during peak times, but I still expect there to be a few matches going. I’ve searched multiple times in the last hour or so and nothing so far. 11 a.m. here so I know a lot of people are at work/school. But even during peak times, 7 p.m.-1 a.m., I normally don’t find many matches and it takes 10 minutes sometimes. Generally the matches I find have the same players, just shuffled teams.

I could just be getting unlucky. Hopefully when I play later tonight there will be a decent amount of people on.

Lucky bastard. I managed to find a game, but I was afk. That was after 20 minutes or so of searching. Sadly, I missed my opportunity to accept :frowning:

I’ve noticed more and more that the bulk of players are overseas from the US, ranked or casual. I bet you would find games right away if you were being connected to EU servers, but oh lord the ping.

Yeah, it would be pointless to try and play with a ping of 130+. Not sure when it happened or what exactly happened, but something changed with the servers in the last year. Any ping over 100 now has a noticeable difference, like some serious lag problems. People over 130 teleport everywhere and playing with it is even worse now. Previously, people playing with even a 200 ping ran smoothly and didn’t teleport/rubberband or whatever everywhere. Don’t know why it’s gotten so bad.

No problems finding a sol/duo game in high Silver in EU during peak hours. The playerbase drops rapidly as midnight approaches though - you wait much longer and/or face the same people for 3 games in a row.

I’ve had the same problem in NA servers. It used to be great, and then the next day barely anyone was on. I’m curious if there are issues with the servers or people just gave up

in EU it’s not unusually to reach skill max range search, I’m silver spec.

But yea, ranked was fun at the start, but after getting like 5 red cases and playing lots ofgames it became booring so I barely play now.

Yeah, it would be pointless to try and play with a ping of 130+.

dat server finding algorithm… sometimes I get 90 ping and sometimes 9

Ohio region here. Same issue, no matches within 20 minutes of searching. I honestly gave up on ranked a few weeks ago because of frustration with idiot players. But now with these wait times there is no way I’m going to play ranked when I can get into a stopwatch match within seconds. It’s a real shame.

I’m starting to wonder if it’s an issue on DB’s end with matchmaking for NA servers?

In Rainbow Six Siege it could took up to 40 minutes just to get a ranked match even tho their numbers of player is bigger.

matchmaking is kind of many game’s problem, even overwatch and Battlefied 1
