Can we remove the weird bulges from her legs? They seriously look really weird and in no way resemble the ammo station.
Kira's Pants
No they don’t resemble the ammo station.
(I’ve searched a lot about the actual name of them since I knew how they look like, but not the actual name)
Apparently those are called army “jodhpurs”. Commonly worn during WWI and WWII by Soviets and German officers. Since Kira is Japanese, I just simple assume, the pants come from the German WWII influence. (Or SD wanted her to look more communist…ish. Or she likes to ride.)
Maybe someone who has actual knowledge about them can clear it up.
I like those pants quite a lot, so no. Keep them. Make her look unique.
Edit: Her bio say she’s influenced by the Cold War stuff (I’m honest here, I have no idea about aerospace telemetry) so the Communist thing might be right.
Edit2: I actually forgot to add pict of the said pants:

I get your point, it is a little on the silly looking side, however… It wasn’t designed that way for no reason. I believe Kira’s outfit actually takes a lot of inspiration from traditional japanese warrior armour, most specifically it’s silhouette figure.
Sadly the google images pictures that I found to show this are a little crap, so you’ll have to bare with me on that, but…
Notice how the pants bulge on the thigh part of the legs? This was of course for armour fitting and padding on the upper limbs, and also to ensure movement was not restricted by tight fitting armour (as Japanese warriors were fast moving and agile fighters).
Here’s another one (although this one is pretty poor as it’s quite low res, but you can still see the leg shape):
Hopefully this helps explain a little behind the artistic representation and practical design behind her armour :3
I’d be totally fine with nice baggy thighs for her (would prefer it really, as they would go well with her jacket) but they really don’t look like loose hem around the upper leg. The extra space is only on the outside of her leg and it’s pulled taught as if it’s been stuffed with something.

This looks very different from the baggy look especially considering last I remember, the pants are flush with her inner thigh (and the entirety of the lower leg) which is nothing like jodhpurs. If they are inspired from them then they are quite frankly poorly done. I can perhaps see the lack of any fluff in between the legs as an animation shortcoming (as that would be awkward to get right without a lot of clipping), but regardless, it just looks really bad.
Okay.
By the way, I noticed @Jostabeere mentioned Kira being based off Cold War themes. This would explain the Stark’s older model, but her outfit itself is very very modern. For example, the PALS webbing on her vest is something widely introduced during the OIF (Iraqi Freedom) era (early 2000s) and was never related to the Cold War. It just so happens that a lot of less than studied news sources like posting pictures of OIF in articles about ODS (Desert Storm). The name tag thing also is a very modern thing as well. Her jacket is rather timeless though and is one of the better aspects of the outfit.
As far as the pants themselves go, skin tight was most definitely not a big thing.
I like looking at mid to late-Cold War rather than early so I really don’t know what the JSDF wore in the '50s, but they sure weren’t rocking what Kira is wearing back in '85 (or nowadays for that matter).
Kira’s grandpa definitely fought the allies at Pearl Harbor. Her pants prove her “axis” predecessors xD
I just read through her bio: Kira’s PhD research led her to a SERIOUSLY classified device in one of her first Merc missions – an experimental weapon linked to a weaponized satellite. It wasn’t exactly hers to keep, but she figured her background in Cold War frequency-agile aerospace telemetry made her the authority. While several wealthy organizations are now out to kill her (not to mention the Mercs whose reputations she scuttled), her fascinating new link to the skies has sped her research tenfold. Science! Knowledge! Fire from the sky!
People, can we please stop distracting ourselves with and fous on really important topics like changing back the Stilnotto sound?

@Jostabeere I wasn’t saying it was wrong, I just thought that information would be interesting to some people.

If this is the case, the model designer has way abused of german beer when creating this. Because this definitely looks more like Hugo Boss than Samourai.
I always thought Kira’s designer was an MC Hammer fan.
Stop. Lazertime!
@Amerika wait please do not close this forum as well! you have already done too many!!! are you their number #1 forum closer? LOL jw
