Kira - The meaning

(Sir Rexman) #1

So…I was trying to find the wikia to just look up some loadout cards, and stumbled across “the meaning” of kira. its apparently:

“Kira (キラ) is a god-like figure who kills evil people as punishment for their sins. Individuals that kill many people by the use of a Death Note will often end up having their actions noticed by the public and will generally be given the title (whether or not their true identities are divulged)”

and I have to admit I dont disagree… god-like figure, flecther betta step down. x)

I don’t think this discussion is giving any feedback on Kira except telling everyone what “Kira” means.

For any Anime fans out there

Your definition is actually from an Anime called Death Note. Not the actual origin or definition. Although this doesn’t determine whether Kira from DB is in any way based on the Kira from Death Note.

man the deathnote opening, havent heard that for a while.

(N8o) #13

That definition is from Death Note.

Derived from “Kiran”, which means “beam of light” in Sanskrit.

Kira also means “shiny” in Japanese.

(Weekendwarrior) #16

When I was new I always thought it’s because Japanese pronounce ‘L’ as ‘R’ so ‘killer’ became ‘kira’

So kawaii

(LifeupOmega) #17

It’s funny 'cause one of the reasons Kira is called Kira is because of the laser satellite in Akira. Then there’s the whole beam of light thing, which was never confirmed but is also likely.
