Kira changes to Satellite Beam

  • Updated Orbital Laser so it now moves at a constant speed
  • Adjusted Orbital Laser speed to 7.6 m/s

On top of nerfing 2/3 of her primaries, why exactly were these two changes implemented in the first place?

Not allowing her to move the laser quickly by aiming her designator as far behind a target as possible makes it more difficult to mow down targets. This is not exactly an easy feat to do, since people will try their best to shoot you down as you’re vulnerable, and a laser beam from the sky is a very large and obvious warning that she’s attempting to carve through an outdoor chokepoint.

I’m assuming that the logic behind preventing the laser from being stationary was to prevent her from denying objectives in the same manner as Stoker’s molotov. Again, another unnecessary nerf because she can only do so if the objective has a clear line of sight to the sky.

Please revert these changes to laser, combined with her primary weapon nerfs they absolutely crush her viability beyond pub games.

Wait, the Laser can’t stop now ? That does not feel right at all. And if you can’t chase players efficiently with, it’s just overkill.

We should be able to hold the lazer at one point : I see no reason why we shouldn’t. The right move to do would have been to cancel the Laser if Kira is downed during the ability IMO. So if you want to cancel the area denial you have to kill her first. If it’s not enough, maybe give a limited range around Kira (far enough, but not too far, and not too short) or make Kira detected while using it. Just random thoughs.

The laser can stop, I was just using it. Does it seem to not last as long now? This might not be quite as recent because I was gone for a little while but it seems to not last as long.

…what’s really funny is that this change wasn’t actually added in the CW Update. This was stealth added in one of the fine tuning patches.

The laser is fine really. I always loved clicking across the map and watching the laser zip across along with it, but TBH it made it a hair OP. Could the current speed be faster? Yes, but the constant speed nerf wasn’t as severe as the fact none of her guns are competitive now.

Also, if you can get easily shot while using the laser then you aren’t being creative enough with your targeting. :stuck_out_tongue:

I gotta say that the laser just feels far too slow now, if you can’t chase people with it, then where is the fun and skill? that on top of nerfing her only good weapons, has just made her a very undesirable merc. which is a shame because i thought she was an all round decent enjoyable merc. burst weapons need to be fixed, and the laser could certianly do with being faster… just take Kira back to pre CW update… please. :frowning:

Laser is fine as it is. The burst rifles are a different story.

I honestly see nothing wrong with the burst rifle. The laser though, maybe increase the speed a little? But than again the laser seems really glitchy right now. I’ve had times when I’m trying to use it and nothing happening only to realize it’s because it’s invisible. I’ve also had times where the laser starts veering into random directions (I’ve gotten some accidentally kills that way too).

The bad thing is that this change is double edged: it’s much easier for Kiras to move it a couple of feet to catch people strafing in front of her (that’s really not how you should be using the laser), but razing an entire area is even more difficult. What was the issue with aiming the laser way past a target to chase them? It’s not rocket science to see that “giant noisy laser from the sky” means get the fuck out, it’s even easier now for people to flee.

Actually, on the note of glitches, I still get spontaneous split second lasers while spamming Q. I haven’t killed myself on one recently, but they’re still surprising to say the least.

I see nothing wrong with laser or burst rifle. Maybe stark can shoot a bit faster, but br 16 has more mag size, more damage and still a decent fire rate. I don’t know why anyone would not like it unless you spam it, which you shouldn’t. It makes it where you have to be accurate with the burst rifles. Only difference is that you can’t spam it.

I think the way you used to use the burst rifles will affect your opinion on the change.

I don’t exactly see why they felt the changes where needed but they aren’t really bothering me much.

On the subject tho has anyone else felt like the laser is getting snagged on objects more lately? Like I call it in, redirect it over a roof and it will stop on the roof and refuse to acknowledge any more instructions.
Seems random as I can’t repo it but feels more frequent this patch.

it seems to get snagged on pretty much any part of chapel now. and always on the PCO building.

It does get snagged I forgot about that. Sometimes I’m merely calling it over a crate, and it disappears. Sometimes it’s simply invisible and it kills me.
