The first thing I want to say is – Great Job Splash Damage! Dirty Bomb is wonderful game, it’s a fast-paced objective shooter we been waiting for such a long time. So I hope it will have success.
But there is a work to be done, after playing for about 3 weeks I can suggest the following things (I know, sum points are already well known issue, but I want to add my view about them anyway).
Launcher
1. People on server feature – Standard thing, but you can add sum new stuff in it like: How long the current player is on server (example: Kinjal (1h 36m)) or average skill level of players on server. Plus the queue thing, with average waiting time.
2. IRC gather analog – For me one of the greatest things about ETQW was a ETQW.gather channel in IRC. It was an easy way of practice versus other pro players, if there was no clan wars and PCW available. If you are pro player, there is almost no interest to play on public server, because you just kill people so easy, I remember how I achieved a killstreek of 35 and I was so bored, I leaved that server immediately. The really fan games is a games versus opponent of the same level as you. Of course sum people just like to farm noobs to have a crazy K/D statistic so there must always be a standard server browser with free ability to join to any server, but a gather system with ability to find an opponents of same level as you would be a great add.
General game play
1. Free planting and a free tool using – I don’t like how planting work at this moment, should I press f or press left mouse button or choose C4 and then press f or left mouse button. Plus there is no trick planting like in ETQW or Wolfenstein 2009, I can’t plant c4 on EV and etc.
Maps
1. London Bridge – I think it’s a wonderful map, complicated. You can play it many times and still find something new.
2. Chapel and Waterloo – I find them to liner comparing to London bridge. I mean look at one of the Chapel objectives - 16 people must run to one room church? I must say that even a Wolfenstein 2009 map “Canal” have a better church. The all time best maps are not a liner maps for sure, I can bet that after 100+ matches on Whitechapel this map will become boring, people will always run the same routes because there is no good alternative routes.
3. Remake of an old maps needed – I just want to say that I will pay at least 40$ for a remake of maps listed below. By saying remake I mean not a total copy, no, but something like a Goldrush - London bridge:
- RTCW – Beach
- ET – Radar
- ET – Oasis
- ETQW – Volcano
- ETQW – Sewers
HUD
1. Grenade timer – I think we can agree that “cooking” the grenade is one of the ET main features, but old style then u have to count then its gona detonate is a bit stupid. Can we have a ETQW style “cooking” circle please.
2. Respawn timer – Must have for competitive play.
3. HP in numbers – I don’t really understand why there is no standard “HP 100” in DB. The blue line? Why? I mean then you die you see the numbers of opponent HP, your HP loss but then you respawn all you see is a console like HP bar. Ok, maybe some people like it, but I prefer an old style HP numbers, so can we have a choice just like a crosshair choice?
4. Ironsight hit registration icons – Or I don’t know how to call it, then you shoot at target in IS you see an…. Hieroglyphs? It looked really strange at first time, maybe after hit sounds will arrive, it will not be a problem, but for now, it doesn’t look very good.
Wish list
Draw gun console command – Since Q3 I’m playing without my gun shown, in my opinion it gives a more depth to a gunfights, plus in all previous SD games, even in Brink, we had this option.
Hit sounds – I suggest a multiple hit sounds sets, just like customizing your character in Brink, having an option to customize your game experience by choosing hit sounds and etc.
