Kill Symbols

(Jimmy James) #1

I tried a search on the Brink Wiki but didn’t come up with anything and there’s nothing about it in the manual. I was wondering what these various kill symbols stood for.

I believe the first one is a headshot, but not sure about the second and third pics. The fourth pic is a Cortex Bomb kill for comparison to the third.

Thanks,
JJ

I think 2nd is a GL kill and the 3rd is a melee kill.

can we have at least a “You killed Player1” to inform you when a kill is done like in ETQW
cause every time we need to watch on the bottom right, and it’s not very userfriendly

It would be a nice add for people who care about that kind of crap. I personally don’t care who I just killed as long as they’re dead.

Well said.

(BomBaKlaK) #6

yes or something that inform you about the frag to know if it’s done !

and please a loving hit beep sound can be the top of top !

I agree with him, it has practical purposes. For example, it’s a pain throwing a molotov into a group of enemies and not being able to quickly identify who is dead and who is just knocked down so you don’t know who to immediately shoot. You can mouse over them all to see their health bars, but if there are 4-5 guys on the ground it’s not really a practical or efficient way to do it.

+1. Sometimes people are also killed so fast that you don’t notice what happened, would be great to see them in console too.

And I also miss the “you TEAMKILLED blabla” message - it’s been a few times where I’m not actually sure if I killed a team mate or enemy (due to the missing friendly name tag thing, or in a bloodbath massacre place like terminal), and when you check in the lower right corner it’s already gone.

and please a loving hit beep sound can be the top of top !

Several people claim there are hit sounds - I personally have never heard any, but not sure if it’s my old ears or my sound drivers not working properly.

Headshot - Nutshot - Melee

(FireWorks) #10

Ok JJ, the first is like you said a headshot. Then follow
-the nut shot, no joking, its the balls (great when you get this with a grenade:D)
-the melee kill with a rifle, smg,… (not pistol->knife)
-cortex bomb

(Cep) #11

The nut shot?!?! Seriously!?

Hahahahahaha

(dabis) #12

Rofl, I always had no idea what the nut shot icon actually meant, and always found myself guessing as to whether it had to do with hip-fire kills, or chest shots, but I never thought it was a nut shot icon. That’s something you’d expect from a game like Duke Nukem, haha. Too funny, lol.

(Jimmy James) #13

Definitely not a Grenade Launch kill as I wasn’t using one at the time.

AHH! You’ve got to be kidding. Lays down in the fetal position for a few minutes. That is very disconcerting.

So third one is melee kill with a rifle. Good to know.

Thanks for the feedback everyone,
JJ

1st - headshot
2nd - no idea what that means
3rd - meele kill
4th - cortex bomb kill

And BomBaKlaK I agree with you, I keep looking at my bottom right to see if I really killed the enemy.

(Artillery Tuna) #15

Thank you for posting this, JJ. I was wondering about the nutshot one for the longest time myself.

(MrFoxer) #16

They’re all pretty obvious, 'cept for the melee one of course. Perhaps the second one is a grenade shooting kill?

(Jimmy James) #17

It’s not that, I have never tried the Grenade Shooting ability. I agree that the melee icon could be a little more clear.

maybe an SD employee would shine some light on this?

(taodemon) #19

That is hilarious if it really is a nut shot, two people should get on a server and test it out.

(FireWorks) #20

You should also be abel to try it in the warmup with strangers…
