Keybind chaining

(pieta9) #1

İs keybind chaining is allowed? Can we create “last weapon used” bind ?

(Dr_Plantboss) #2

It’s allowed, but I think it would probably smarter to just get used to the controls, as they may change in the future.

Also, in the controls there IS a “last weapon used” available for binding.

I’m pretty sure a lot of people already do that to have long jump on a single key.

Go into the gameguides in the steam overlay. Search for jump bind.

There is a bind set that you drop into the console to assign the long jump to a key.

He wants a bind for “Last Weapon Used” not long jump.

“Previous Weapon”

“Previous Weapon”

it’s “previous” not last weapon used.

My wording may not have been exact, but the purpose was to help you find the option, not to write an essay.

That isn’t the option he wants though. The one he wants doesn’t exist in Dirty Bomb, which is one that resembles the default [Q] bind in Source games (the weapon/item held prior to the one you’re currently holding).

That’s what that bind DOES.

smarter to just get used to the controls,

Nobody sane would want to just hold right mouse button all the time as rhino, a toggle key would’ve been much better

No, it doesn’t, it’s only function is to swap between the Primary and Secondary weapon. The order in which it does so is determined by whether you use the “Next” or “Previous” option.

When holding out a Melee Weapon, pressing the “Next Weapon” bind will result in wielding the Primary Weapon, pressing the key again will wield the Secondary Weapon. Replacing the Knife with any other Weapon/Item, e.g. Ability 1 or 2, will lead to the same result.

The “Previous Weapon” bind functions the exact same way, except instead of wielding the Primary Weapon upon pressing the key, the Secondary Weapon is wielded instead.

I used to use this complicated mess of keybinds to make the revivr a toggle so i didnt have to hold the button (makes my hand cramp a little, harder to aim) It can be adjusted for other mercs if you wanted but it makes its own weird problems. It can cause reloads to fail for whatever reason and makes reload cancels almost impossible

setbind FireSelectOn "startfire | SetBind LeftMouseButton FireSelectOff" 1
setbind FireSelectOff "stopfire | SetBind LeftMouseButton FireSelectOn" 1
setbind OnSpark "SelectWeaponSlot WS_Item2 | setbind LeftMouseButton FireSelectOn" 1
setbind OnSpark2 "quickItemSlot1 true | stopfire | quickItemSlot1 false | ResetFire" 1
setbind ResetFire "setbind LeftMouseButton Fire" 1
setbind One "WeaponSlotThree| stopfire | ResetFire" 1
setbind Two "WeaponSlotTwo| stopfire | ResetFire" 1
setbind Three "WeaponSlotOne| stopfire | ResetFire" 1
setbind Four "WeaponSlotFour| stopfire | ResetFire" 1
setbind LeftShift "SetSprint true | stopfire | OnRelease SetSprint false" 1
setbind O "EnableSparks" 1
setbind EnableSparks "stopfire | setbind O DisableSparks | setbind LeftMouseButton FireSelectOn | setbind e OnSpark | setbind Q OnSpark2" 1
setbind DisableSparks "stopfire | setbind O EnableSparks | setbind LeftMouseButton Fire | setbind e QuickItem2Cmd | setbind Q QuickItem1Cmd" 1
setbind o EnableSparks 1
setbind p DisableSparks 1

I do. And most people who played TF2 will probably also.

Well, my fingers just hurt from such action, perhaps you’re a mas0chist or simply very healthy and young

I have very weak fingers. I get tired from holding the same key for more than 20 seconds.
But for some reason I feel very comfortable holding right click on Rhino at almost all times. Even when I’m shooting I hold both right click and left click so if I want to stop shooting I can easily do it without stopping spinning the minigun.

I probably got used to it from playing tf2 so it feels natural to me now.
Or it’s only my left hand being weak but my middle finger on the right hand is strong enough to hold left click for a long time.
Or the keyboard keys are just harder to hold than the mouse button : 3
