kad gives you kills and assists per death. which is ‘your damage to enemy per death’

Most mobas count one assist as half a kill. That’s why KDA.

Keep in mind though, in MOBAS the kills and deaths weigh much more than in DB. This is because of the enormous xp rewards and hero growth players gain from it. One or two stupid deaths at the start of the match can be enough to put your team on the backfoot for the rest of the match.

It’s not meant to derive some sort of formula for a single number performance indicator out of it. Especially considering the score board doesn’t rank players in the order of K/D but in the order of Score.

It still matters what developers chose to display on the score screen. Right now not displaying assists in the KD score basically is telling the players that assists don’t matter.

Personally I believe that score is all that matters. If it were up to me then score/min and completed objectives would be the only thing shown on the scoreboard. But that’s flying in the face of the more traditional oriented shooters. Therefore KDA would be a happy middle ground.

K/D is appropriate for a level playing field like COD or CS. All players are there to kill, kill and kill each other to death. But a game like DB employs a team with a mixed bag of nuts. There’s a statistical discrepancy in the average K/D of each merc and that’s unavoidable if some are focussed on killing and some are focussed on crowd control or support. Trying to get K/D equal among all mercs would smother the diversity between their roles.

So hence, KDA for display purposes. Show that kills matter, but also give the star assistants a chance to shine. Also keep in mind that there’s far more assist kills than personal kills during a match so the number of assists can reach really impressive numbers for a player that’s always busy and proactive on the frontline.

Yes, perhaps more sophisticated. A system that picks out the six most exceptional feats (relative to the overall norm) of that match.

That way you get to have a whole range of possible ‘best ofs’. Because all the least interesting ‘best ofs’ will automatically left out you get a much spicier post-match screen.

dont really mind either way, happily go back to just your score showing on the end screen - it’s presence in any form gives the impression that your K/D ratio is worthy of attention.

I don’t really like the statistic at all. I often play with Sawbonez and even when doing a lot of damage most of your kills get rewarded to your teammates anyway. Adding assists to the scoreboard is nice then but is just a solution for the symptom: Some classes are just not aimed towards fragging but towards supporting the team. Just remove it from the scoreboard please.
