Maybe you should create a merc that uses a RPG (or something similar) also like the grenade launcher that one of the merc has in dirty bomb (female forgot name) and his primary weapon should be a machine gun type and the secondary can be anything you like because I don’t know and for the melee it could be anything

There is a merc called Kira who has an orbital laser she controls from the sky, there is a merc who has molotov coctails (fire) as one of his abilities.

New merc ideas are cool, but everything you have suggested (and my comment about a merc with a wall you can setup) already exist. Search on google for the Wiki (there are two) and have alook through the released and unreleased mercs and see what else you canc ome up with.
