Just wanted to say a few words.

While many of people may have been waiting for this game for such a long time, I, for one, have been waiting only for about a few months. I never actually knew that this game was being developed until recently, and after I had read up about it, as well as my previous experiences with Wolf:ET and ETQW, I was rather excited. It was at that moment that I pre-ordered this game for the PC, and patiently waited for its release to come. Once it did, I had found myself so excited, just as excited as I was when I first started playing some other games I have, on release date. And when I started playing Brink, I was very excited, but one issue after another began to draw my excitement down, and kind of bore itself into my mind. It felt almost like disappointment, until just recently.

That is because I recently got word about Splash Damage currently working on a patch that would relatively address the current issues, such as the current ATi graphics / AMD processor issues, unusual unoptimized graphics problems, processing issue with bots and, above all, server and audio problems. These were my biggest complaints on the game as of now, and, to see that Splash Damage has taken immediate action to these issues truly shows such an amazing amount of dedication and support that they have for their game, as they have shown with Wolf:ET, and ETQW. I am truly happy that Splash Damage is on the ball in dealing with these issues, and is even responding and interacting with its community, as it also did with its previous titles, and it brightens my day to know that these issues will be resolved in due time.

So, if I can’t make myself look like a brown noser any more than I have now, I would like to personally say…Thank you, Splash Damage, for being a dedicated developer, and having a steadfast team. Despite what critics have said about your games, despite what people may have slandered you, and importantly, what other developers and publishers that have disregarded your capability, you’ve stood your ground, and held through.

I eagerly await to see this Patch become available to all PC players, as well as whatever patch that may come for the Consoles, and happily await what future content you may bring to this new release. Thank you.

TL;DR: I got excited about Brink a few months back, preordered, got somewhat disappointed as I kept playing. Heard that SD was developing a patch to fix the current problems. Amazed at how quick SD is to respond to such things. Gave my thanks, and whatnot.

Now, all I have to say now, is this. Who else is excited to see what future patches, and future stuff comes to Brink, for both Consoles, and PC?

Sorry I don’t carry your enthusiasm, but they shipped out this mess… its kind of their responsibility to fix it. I’ll wait patiently for their fix and I think that’s being generous… in a weeks time the game won’t even be worth trading in because the strores will be flooded with used copies.

People are furious.

Some are. Some are really enjoying their time with the game.

In fact, reviews average 8/10 right now. And as the game can only improve with patching and new content, and as SD have a pretty decent history of supporting their products, I don’t see too much to worry about.

I have pre-ordered this and I’ll stick with it. If it turns out to disappoint in a few months then so be it, but I think there’s much more evidence to suggest it will improve than it won’t.

I understand where you’re coming from, as I have a number of friends that equally thought these same things, and yes, I know I have an almost naive sense of optimism. But, personally? Why not have optimism in things? Just saying. Too much negativity in my life already. And hey, even if this game becomes a disappointment over time, I still had fun playing it in the moment that I did enjoy it, money well spent or not. Though, it will be nice to see -what- Splash Damage decides to do with this game. I know it wants to do so much, now that this game is out, such as release this patch, as well as release SDK, but, some of these choices also seem to be in the hands of Bethesda, as well. Hopefully, things will play out well enough for everyone to enjoy, if they already enjoy this game.
