AA-12 full auto shotgun - ability
60 second cool down
20 round mag
Once you activate the ability you equip the AA-12 and can fire up to 20 rounds, you can put it away and depending on how many shells are left in the magazine it will reduce the cool down time. (2 seconds per shell)

Shield - ability
You can activate a “bubble shield” that you and your teammates can sit inside and be protected from everything. You cannot fire or throw through the shield in either direction. Teammates and enemy’s can walk through the shield.
45 second cool down
duration 8 seconds

Absorption - ability
60 second cool down
duration 3 seconds
all damage taken in this amount of time will heal you and your surrounding teammates.

  1. full auto shotties will have to be nerfed to shit for it to be balanced. i mean, have you SEEN a prox hopping around with a pump action? ive been on both sides, and lemme tell ya, its hard to beat.
  2. you mean the squad shield thing in battlefront? its a sound idea, especially if you go the gr phantoms route(yeah, there are actually some rather nice things about phantoms buried under all that p2w) where the projectiles are simply deflected and might be able to do some amount of damage if they do hit someone somehow.
  3. i have no idea how is that supposed to work at all. makes for an interesting new heal though.

The only reason I don’t like the idea of shields (believe me I put a lot of thought into it when thinking up merc ideas) is because every gametype so far is objective based.

Repairing the EV -> If you had a sheild blocking all air attacks, it would be impossible to stop people repairing it from a distance. Arty is used for this quite a bit (since his cool down is much shorter than Skyhammer) compared to Skyhammer who primarily waits until the EV is repaired before using his airstrike.

Defusing the C4 -> So you plant the C4 and the enemy has to defuse it. They throw a shield up. How do you stop them? It’s practically impossible, especially if they throw a stoker nade inside that shield stopping you from entering the sheild to do some damage. Or if they have a rhino sitting inside the shield with his minigun charged waiting for you to run inside.

Delivering the objective -> Self explanatory really. Place the shield up and deliver it without taking fire from a distance.

I am almost certain that if someone existed with such a feature, it would unbalance all online play for the simple fact that there is no limit on how many of each merc you can have on each side. Imagine trying to beat a team who had 5 shield mercs and a proxy on Chapel. Bomb the EV as much as you want, but with all those shield and fast objective work the game would be over in 2-3 minutes.

I reckon a good way to balance all these bubble shield ideas would be have it so that the shield cant be deployed if the actual shield intersects with any of the level, so you cant stick the shield up the ass of an ev like you can with a healing station.
