Well can’t say much other then it seems like a TF2. DB has far better game play imo. I for one would love to see more maps and more mercs. DB should copy maps from popular FPS. That would be freaking hilarious.
Just got done with the free weekend for OW

More maps, yes. More mercs? Nah. A few more is fine. Javelin and Turtle would be nice. But you gotta think about it, we have 19 mercs right now (?). That’s a lot. If they were to start adding a ton more, you would get a lot of clutter. Like way too much.
Maps are definitely needed. DESPERATELY needed in my opinion. Definitely don’t want them copying maps from other FPS games. Most games have shitty maps. It’s sad, but true. The best maps I’ve ever played are from niche FPS games that died quickly and from player-made designs. Also, maps from some PS2 games like Star Wars Battlefront or Timesplitters were pretty awesome.
Then there’s those games that just had multiplayer kinda thrown in with them, but they had awesome maps and great multiplayer (tons of PS3 and PS2 games like this, the multiplayer for these games never really took off though, I just played them by myself to check them out).
And can’t forget Call of Duty 3. I loved those maps. I’m sure a lot of people didn’t like that game, but I played that multiplayer during the late stages of the PS2 and miss it so much. RIP.
Sorry for the nostalgia moment! Anyways, I haven’t even tried Overwatch. Been waiting for a free weekend, but I never see anything about it. Guess I’d need to download Blizzard’s client or something to know. I tried out Paladins previously, and people said it was very similar to OW. If so, OW sucks. Paladins is a well-made and can-be-fun kinda game, but it’s just boring. I imagine OW to be the same.

Well I think something generic yet homage-worthy (eg: Container Yard… Call of Duty has it… Battlefield has it)…
Oh wait… this is London we’re talking about right? Where’s our “Big Ben” map? “Tower of London” map?

Why Original more vertical map is not better than copying mediocre 3 line maps?
I tried OW as well this week end, if playing 5 games is considered as trying. I could not play more than that. OW is more about Ultimate management and countering mercs. Some DPS mains can’t even aim decently, some mercs are VERY boring to play.
Paladins is very similar for sure.
I dont want more mercs. Turtle would be fine. Maybe one or 2 more but I highly doubt it will ever happen.
What we need is maps. Community maps. And servers.

Almost every Asian F2P shooter has a copy of Dust_2. Crossfire literally copied CS. Many shooters copied CoD or BF. Noone got sued.

no-one gets sued “YET”
just like those youtube channels showing TV shows literally making good revenue from ads, everyone did it and for a time “nobody gets sued.”
that is until 2015 when people fuggen sue each other for even a small hint of copyrighted things…
i say lets not take chances and let SD do original maps.

I played Crossfire when I was young. The Asian version of it has de_dust and de_dust2 for…about 8 years now. Noone sued them for 8 years or longer.
Don’t worry, soon as SDK hits, all of your favorite maps from other games will be possible.
Dude, listen.
It’s a good idea to have more maps. Dirty Bomb really, REALLY needs maps, since we only have 9 maps. But the reason why we don’t have that much is because:
- Splash Damage is a small company that has been sold to a Chinese chicken company.
- All DB maps must support walljumps, longjumps, trickjumps and enough outdoor area so that the Fire Supporters can help their team. Not to mention that the size of those map must be enough to not cause a fuss (like confusing ways, laggy, buggy, causing the game to crash and your computer rekt)
- SD WILL get sued if they copied maps from another games. Especially from the famous ones.
So, no. Splash shouldn’t copy maps from other FPS unless they cooperate with companies like Valve, Activision, Blizzard, etc.

That sale is only a fairly recent thing. It would have had no real impact on dev cycles that were already mapped out unless they decided to cancel the game. Where work has continued at relatively the same rate since the purchase I would expect that they aren’t cancelling it.
More likely the reason we haven’t seen new maps lately is because the people/person who is their primary on maps has been working on the summer squash update to improve optimization on the existing maps. Dockyard is still being worked on afaik.
@Ardez Yeah, forgot that. (Anyways are you tracking me Ardez?)
But soon, when the SDK hits the fan, DB is gonna be COLORFUL! Sorta.
